Shelby Bottoms Nature Play Area — Attraction in Nashville-Davidson

Overall, it is a safe feeling park but has a bit of a trash problem. My wife has found used condoms in the parking lot. This is a frequent disturbing discovery (yuck!). Also, the maintenance around the nature center and associated playground is low quality. They leave a lot of hazards. I find broken fencing boards often with screws and nails and abaonded brush piles near the childrens playground. When it rains, the playground can turn into a bit of a mud pit. Despite my complaints, I still frequently use the park because it is close...

My kids love it here. There is a sand pit area with trucks, shovels, and other toys. There is a little shack/clubhouse. They have a big rope web for the kids to climb on. There is a water pump. It sits next to the Nature Center, convenient for potty breaks. There is decent shade and a couple of picnic tables. The only recommendation I have is don't bring them in their "good"...

Nice park now. They've redone a lot of things. Nice walking trails and beautiful views. They even have a nature center now although its small. They have a room just for small children, books, etc. I had a really nice time walking along the river and on the track. The trail is awesome. I would suggest this park to anyone. Great relaxing getaway...
