A Texas gem! If you live in or love Texas, you HAVE to come here and see and hear the story of our state's independence! Such a beautiful site so very rich in history. We took the guided tour and it was amazing to sit the way the delegates sat so many years ago as they wrote our constitution and declared independence. Our tour guide was exceptional and gave the best, most cohesive explanation of the events that led to Texas independence and what that meant for the rest of the country. I am an elementary school social studies teacher who teaches Texas history and I still learned so much! The self-guided walking trail is lovely and informative. The bathrooms and gift store are exceptional-probably the best of all state parks. Usually this time of year the bluebonnets are like a carpet here, but we only saw 1 plant this year with the weather situation. We walked to the picnic area (with a playground) and then to the Barrington Farm. My children are 9/12 and were rapt during the tour and thrilled to get little Texas pins! They loved seeing the tables and chairs from the 1850's (reproductions made the same way) and going inside Independence Hall! A wonderful experience! ...

Drove up from Houston today to tour another historic site and collect our usual souvenirs. I called ahead weeks ago to make sure they had patches, and thankfully while I was there I got to meet the retail development manager and he gave me a lot of guidance about which sites also have patches. I’ve included pictures of the souvenirs because I never see this in the reviews and I always look for them. I was also excited to see they had retro felt pennants unfortunately $20 was a little too steep for me right now but maybe next time. It was raining pretty much the entire time we were there but my 6yo and I had a nice walk on the trails. Most of the buildings are were closed but the outdoors were still lovely and the walking paths weren’t strenuous at all. I do wish they had a magnet in the gift shop that specifically said Washington-on-the-Brazos but we were happy to get our patch and some stickers for our collection. Looking forward to coming back on a...

Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site is a must-visit for history buffs and anyone interested in Texas' rich past. The site is well-maintained, with beautiful grounds and informative exhibits detailing the birth of the Republic of Texas. The Star of the Republic Museum offers a deep dive into Texas history, while the Barrington Plantation provides an immersive look at 19th-century farm life. The visitor center staff are friendly and knowledgeable, adding to the overall experience.

The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that some areas could use a bit more interactive elements or guided tours to enhance the experience further. Also, since much of the site is outdoors, visiting on a hot day can be challenging without enough shade or hydration options.

Despite these minor drawbacks, it's a great destination for history lovers, families, and anyone looking to connect with Texas' past in a scenic setting. Definitely...

Washington on the Brazos State Park is a must-see for any native Texan or anyone who wants to learn a bit of Texas history. This is the place where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed when Texas won its Independence from Mexico. There is so much history here with a tour of the historic building where the document was signed, hiking trails, a visitor center, an amazing museum, and a living history farm! All included with admission. If you love history, then you definitely want to add this to your bucket list ❤️ #fyp #travel #vacation #roadtrip #bucketlist #texas #history #museum #historicsite #foryou #foryoupage #traveltiktok
