If I could give this establishment less than one star I would. My family and I stopped by this place to buy a drink after visiting Washington on the Brazos yesterday. We were the only customers in the building at the time and the man working behind the counter treated us like we were a huge inconvenience to him the entire time. He was impatient, incredibly rude, and condescending to every member of our party and basically acted like a massive jerk the entire time. He was arrogant, talked down to us, and even went so far as to call one member of our group a snob because she happened to disagree with one of his opinions. The woman working in the kitchen was equally rude and acted as if she were doing us a favor by being there at all. Highly Recommend First visit - I heard a lot about R Place from many friends and we enjoyed the experience a lot. Stayed an extra hour playing games in the back yard and another 30 minutes chating with the owner/cook.
But . . . keep in mind, the high ratings are for the ambiance and experience. This is NOT a 5 star, white table cloth, black tie restaurant.
It's very rustic and somewhat "fronteer". Good choice for historic Washington On The Brazos.
The menu is extremely limited but tasty and quite ample. Go to their web page and look at the menu so your not surprised. God beer n wine.
I have by-passed this place many times while visiting, or just driving through, WOTB. I won't ever just drive by again without stopping.
NOTE: Even if he's closed there are nice shady picnic tables in the back yard. That's what we're...
Read moreWe visited this place after our visit to Washington on the Brazos state park. The two people there were very friendly. Service was great. We felt welcome and valued. The lady told us to move the tables around outback if we wanted to our liking. We were told about hula hoops and corn hole game. We played some while waiting for our food and some after. We ordered sliced beef sandwich. The brisket was moist with bark and delicious!! I was not impressed by the sides. They have about 8 popular flavors of bluebell ice creams. Wish they had peach cobbler the reviewers were raving about. There is a little gallery of a local artist called Ray. Absolutely love the friendly causal and welcoming vibe of this place. We would...
