honestly i pre-judged this museum before I stepped inside that it would be not very fabulous but just averagely intriguing. but i was wrong and was a self-correcting lesson not to judge before you don't experience or know entirely about something. i ended up browsing much longer than expected and I'm glad I stopped in. the chair made with bull horns was especially fantastic. the guns and books too, and they've got a display of a bank teller's station you can walk inside to see what it was like from the employee's perspective. but one of the best displays was of the stuffed eagle hanging from the ceiling. they told me, if my memory serves right, the bird crashed into a semi- truck and was taken to the right people to preserve it through taxidermy. sad, but also preserving and displaying it honors the magnificent creature for all time...

This is such a great museum! We were lucky as Allen Metsher, President of the Central Nevada Historical Society was there and took us around to some of his favorite exhibits of the museum and gave us some background information on how some of the pieces came to be at the museum. The other staff at the museum were super nice and if you go, ask them to show you their favorite pieces! I could easily go back and see this museum again and if you are needing any ancestry information for Tonapah, you have to check out their library! The historical society has a...

Pretty cool spot for a free museum. Has some interesting stuff too- an old school casket, the largest photograph of Tonopah ever, creepy dolls, old knick knacks and the like.

Friendly staff too. The outside has a walkable area of other mining equipment and old timey stuff.

Pretty decent for a stop over from anywhere, maybe 15 mins or so.

They also are selling a bunch of old train and American Rifleman magazines for a dollar each, I’m talking 1940’s old. Kinda cool to browse the old ads and stuff...

I was there to drop off a roll top desk that was used by my wife's great grandfather when he worked in Tonopah a the Tonopah phone company in ~1910. It was nice to get it back to Tonopah so others could enjoy. We Treated to quick tour by Allen Metscher who we found out it fountain of historical knowledge of the area. if we had had more time would have loved to have spent more time with him.

This place is worth the visit. We walked our doggie around the outside area. Watch out for broken glass (not beer bottles just some old antiques that weather and people probably took a toll on). Checked out the history, got some education. We had a picnic, enjoyed the colorful display of minerals. It had enough space to park our 28ft motorhome.
