Hello - we went to IT in New Haven after booking tickets online (cheaper). Although we had bought seven tickets, we only had five people coming so we called on the phone and the lady was very kind and easy to work with in getting the price adjusted the day of. Their system is very quick too so I saw the credit reflected right away.
Now for the fun part! Once we showed-up, everyone got a very snug fitting harness and then a cable that gets connected to a rail system that weaves in and out of obstacle courses and zip lines spanning three different levels. At first it was a little nerve-racking going on some of the more challenging courses trying to reach the zip line, but you get used to the height. Also, when you're there with a group of people, you're having so much fun that you don't think about it as much.
Most of the obstacle courses have ropes or rails nearby and again, you're connected to the rail system with your harness so the safety factor is more reassuring. Sometimes you have to drag the cable to get around certain curves but it's not so bad. The zip lines are definitely fun and not too scary and this is coming from someone who doesn't like heights!
The concession stand as of this writing is no longer open. However, I believe you can bring outside food and drink. So, if you are planning a birthday party, you could wing it with your own supplies and with whatever tables and chairs are available. There is also a birthday party option but we didn't have the ten people required to fully take advantage of this offer. In addition, they do have small lockers available for your small possessions which are not allowed on the obstacle course. Did I mention that the IT is connected to the Jordan's furniture store? So, if there's someone that doesn't want to do the obstacle course, they can go through the store as well.
Looking back, this was definitely a fun trip for the whole family! We did a two-hour ticket and the children in my party were zonked afterwards. I got a little sore after an hour myself so I decided to come down which gave me time to check out the furniture store. I would come back here again (maybe do a one-hour ticket next time) or even check out the other Jordan's / IT...
Read moreWorst experience of my life. My daughter started out well enough but I once we got to the zip line she froze up. Crying and scared. I was trying to help her as well as may of the other people stacked up behind us. There was no one at the zip line that worked there. We ended up tangled. The only employee visible was yelling from to floor 2 stories below.NOT HELPFUL. We finally figured it out after about 10 minutes. We made our way to the other end because she was afraid to go back. We found an emergency stairwell but it was locked with a carbine. We tried to get help, several people went to get staff first us. 30 minutes later we flagged a staff member with a rack if harnesses heading to a store room to help us. No one ever came that was asked to. We walked back to the harness area. I had to interrupt a staff member who was talking to another, to unharness us. My daughter was shaking and sobbing and he acted like we were bothering him. I would of asked for a refund but my daughter was so upset we just had to get out of there. We saw no staff above the floor at all, no one even asked if we were ok. Despicable Staff, service.
UPDATE: I have been contacted by a very professional individual, Barbie. She reached out to me to let me know that they are very concerned with how their staff behaved and will be looking further into the situation. She explained that they have monthly training seminars with staffers and that emergencies are covered in those training sessions. She has offered a full refund for the poor experience, which was appreciated but not my reason for the review. She also added additional tickets so that we can have a more positive experience. Thank you Barbie, we appreciate your professional and understanding response to my concerns. If all of your staff were like you I am sure we would not have had any...
Read moreWent here and was disappointed with the size of the place, you think it’s going to be big figuring it’s going the “world’s biggest” as advertised, but really at the end of the day it’s just 1 big room with a few lines to zip across and that’s it. Made the mistake of getting the 2 hours instead of the 1 hour because by the time 1 hour passed, there was nothing left to do. Disappointment. So me and my companion decide to redo a line one more time really just to get maybe some of our money’s worth. But then the line ends up getting busted. So now there’s a group of people trying to navigate themselves, customers trying to go somewhere else and employees trying to get to the line to fix it. There is clearly frustration among both parties of people and one of the employees decided to take out their frustration on me and my companion there because apparently there is only ONE singular person allowed on each obstacle line, she SCREAMS at me and I don’t even know where she is (turns out she was way above me) then uses her whistle sharply at me. I was never informed there was only 1 person on the obstacle line at a time, and there is no reason why she should be worrying about me and my companion being on it at one time because we both add up to less than 300 lbs (300 lbs is the max to participate), also there are many little kids she should be rather worried about at the time going around also not to mention the busted line. Me and my companion are both adults and we should be treated like so and it would be unacceptable to be treated otherwise, especially by a professional establishment. Shame on this place. The furniture store that takes up most of the building anyways might as well take up the...
