It was my first visit so I was a bit apprehensive - I arrived at 7:30pm and it was still quite busy there but I didn't have a problem finding a place to park - at that time in the evening the crowd was largely Hispanic, families especially, and respectful. It's next to the water and it was low tide at the time so a lot of muck was visible where water had been but thankfully not with the rank smell you get at some areas when the tide drops . The majority of the food trucks are Hispanic food so trying to decide which one to try was not easy because they all seemed pretty much the same. I hadn't had a decent fish taco since leaving SW Florida 2 years ago & now I know where to get them! It was $3 for a fish taco and worth every cent - I was going to get a 2nd one at a different truck so I could compare but it was so good I just had to get a 2nd at the same truck. To my friend that thought I was nuts to make the 25 minute drive when we have a Taco Bell so close to our home - Taco Bell couldn't give me a free meal to stop me from making a trip back there - there's just no comparison! I'd suggest if you like the food at a particular food truck to take a picture of it like I did so you know which one you went to when...
Read moreThis place is a food truck in a long row of food trucks. The food is okay. It's nothing great. In fact the chicken fingers or chicken pieces that I ordered were too well done. And were rather bland. But I must say, there's about 10 to 15 food trucks there and they're all owned and staffed by Latino immigrants. And I tell you I have to give them credit because they're all they're working, it was excessively hot outside and it must have been brutally hot in those trucks with those grills running. Yet they were in there working running around, everything coming out fast. So in that regard, I must say that was impressive. And it seems like it's the type of business that if you take the food safety class, and get the truck and learn how to operate a short order grill, there's really no reason why more people can't be doing this. Especially people that are complaining about an inability to earn a living. A couple of people can get together, combine their money, and get a little business going. Yeah it's tough in the beginning. You might have to sleep in the truck in the beginning but get the thing going, get it off the ground. Anyway, that discussion is...
Read moreI am not into the street food but wanted to visit this place. I am just reviewing the area here not particular truck. Lots of food trucks around Latino mostly. No places to sit! The seafront is full of overloaded thrash bins and trash lying around, wasn’t clean at all. Connecticut municipality should invest in arranging seating area and maintaining the cleanliness of the place. People I saw around were cheerful & really enjoyed the place. I wish municipality makes an effort to maintain the cleanliness & have seating area for them. I had churros, pina colada, my husband had tacos. Pina colada had great presentation, tasted so fresh. My husband said tacos were delicious. For food I would give 4 star. In New York, there are trucks near LIC (Long Island city) waterfront gantry park it has seating areas, and is cleaner- similarly CT/New Haven municipality should invest more in making long wharf better place to visit ...
