I'm not sure where most people begin their ascent, but there are several trails that ultimately bring you up there. The trails themselves can use a once over with some new trail markers & signs. As far as I can tell, other then the roadway entrance to the park there isn't any signage for trailheads so if you're not a local it may be difficult to find! Otherwise it's a pretty enjoyable hike, some nice lookouts from the side of the mountain. It's a bit surreal, being on a mountain in the middle of the woods in New Haven which is a pretty big city! My kids call it Lego City because it looks so fake and small from way up high. The caves are pretty wild, you can climb inside, or up on top of the rocks. The history is quite interesting, worth researching on your own time. All in all well...
