Update 2018: raised the price for meal by avout $4. I went fron eating here 2x a week to never again. I love the food but its a burger im not paying $18.
UPDATE TO MY REVIEW: Since my review I have tried this location again and it seems that the manager has finally taken care of the issue. Now every time I go in for a web order I am greeted as soon as I stand in the pickup area. Thank you for fixing the issue!
5 Guys is my favorite burger joint but some serious issues going on at the New Haven Amity location for web orders. The problem is the employees are not trained to greet people standing in the pickup area. I have waited 15 min and it would have gone longer if I didnt scream loud and make a scene after the first 3 times tried to get some ones attention. The employees were trying with all their might not to make eye contact. By the way its not like the place was even busy, only 1 other person in line at the time. I was even told once that I would have to go to the other line first. I told him im here for a web order its sitting right there done. He said I had to go to the other line first. What is the point of the web order if I am still the last person to get served. Read moreI'm not sure if they changed there hours it says online they close at 10:00pm I get you have a grill and other things to clean before you officially close but the sign should be off and door should be locked they seem to not want to be open when there supposed to I wouldnt bother trying to ask them to make you something after 8:30 because they tell you there closing regardless of the time they say they close can't even get a milkshake maybe the workers closing earlier than they should be or maybe I'm wrong and they need that much time but I called the store got put on hold just to see if they were open and I waited about 10-15 minutes called back and they cut off the phone went straight to voicemail which I thought was strange otherwise the manager is very professional and very nice and I'm sure if he was there he wouldnt let that slide I think ima just stick with another place probably same price but bigger burgers! Seriously why get a 10-11$ small burger when you can go somewhere else and get a burger...
Read moreThe burger was great, and I try to give people the benefit of a doubt because it was understaffed, but they really need to re-train people on customer service. I placed an order through Uber Eats that was supposed to be almost ready by the time I arrived, but after almost 30 minutes of waiting while watching people that ordered after me get their order, I asked about mine. It was just sitting in a bag with a bunch of other orders that were never called out. Nobody took a moment to call out the orders even though there was a bunch of them sitting on the counter, which is really poor service. They should have more staff working, especially when they have specials designed to attract more customers. This is the kind of experience that makes you never want to go back to a place again.
