Large park and monument site, fully equipped with picnic/grilling amenities for all sizes of groups, including 2 large, fully enclosed pavilions. A very modern, fenced in playground available for children of all ages and ability levels recently built. Clean, well maintained public restroom available. The star attraction of the park, the Herman Monument, offers a beautiful overlook of the city and valley, either from the observation platform, or just from its base, as well as great historical information about Herman and the site of the monument itself. If you've never been to the top, suggest a visit sooner rather than later though as this was built long ago, and I can personally see some overzealous safety group try to close this access down, ruining the experience forever. A visit here is time well spent.

This is one of the top attractions in my town and it has some really cool features. It’s a 4 and not a 5 because it really needs some TLC and the access to the overlook platform is pretty difficult if not dangerous. The views are nice and here is a fun fact found on Wikipedia. Hermann (German for War Man) wasn’t his real name….it was Arminius. Martin Luther, another German hero who fought for freedom (of the gospel) is honored across the street with a statue and college named after him. Apparently, he was the one who gave Hermann his name. Fun connection for these two famous Germans who are both honored on the same hillside thousands of miles from their homeland.

This is New Ulm's Eiffel Tower. Even if you don't visit it directly, it would be hard to miss if you drive up/down Center street as it can be prominently seen from streets. It is a beautiful monument and is accessible for $3 if you feel like climbing to the top which gives you access to stand at the foot of the king. There you will be treated to a breathtaking view of New Ulm from all sides of the monument. Be warned though, there are some tight climbs at the very top so it may not be suitable for the elderly or very small children.
