I came to America in March 2015. My family is residing in Whitestone New York. I was habitual to do morning walk and went to Francis Lewis park near Whitestone bridge. I saw overthere a lot of trash in and around the Park. What I had heard that American people keep their cities very clean but at this first instance my impression was totally diminished. So I started to clean the park and side walk. Some people were noticing it and wishing me for doing good job. Some people were used to tell me there is some trash in some particular area but they didn't clean that themselves. That is our park and our foremost duty is to keep it clean. After long time some people felt that a man is cleaning the park alone and they started to do that job voluntarily. Now, I am happy that Madam Dorian and her other colleagues has made an Organisation namely "Friends Of Francis Lewis Park" and all they are doing commendable job to keep the park clean. I do appreciate their initiative. I am thankful to the dedicted team of citizens of Whitestone. Sincerely,...
Read moreWhat a beautiful park! I love how spacious it is and the views of the Whitestone Bridge are gorgeous! This a great park to go to if you are into photography. I highly recommend coming when sun is setting -you’ll get amazing effects of the water and bridge.
For me, my favorite part about this park is that it almost never gets to crowed. It’s a great place to chill and there’s a lot to do here. They have a couple of basketball courts, bocce ball lanes, a good size playground with a cute little spash pad, a small beach where people sometimes go fishing at and lots of grassy trails. There are buses that stop close by but also plenty of street parking if you are driving here. The neighborhood is quiet which makes for a nice relaxing and safe atmosphere in the park. The whole park is really clean and there are bathrooms near the basketball courts.
It really is a great park and a hidden...

Yet, rules and regulations don't stop Whitestonians from completion of their mission. No matter how high the city puts fences around the amenities, the people overcome the barriers. The young conquer the basketball and handball courts, while the old Italians storm the bocci ball courts. The families lift their children cover the fence into the children playground. All nationalities sit on the grass and eat lunch and snacks and soak up the sun. There is respect for this park as the locals and visitors from other neighborhoods mingle in harmony. The park strictly closes at 9 pm. Bring your bike, skateboard or jog or walk up and down the steep hill to the...
