I do flat water racing kayaking. We have about 6 lakes and ponds on Staten Island BUT nowhere besides this place the kayaking is permitted. Advantage - still on Staten Island, no need to cross the bridge. Downside- in cold weather to get into kayak it still necessary to get your feet wet. And during high tide / low tide changing it gets really shallow plus it a lot of debris. But better this site...
