This area, the so-called Riverdale Waterfront Promenade, is accessed via the Riverdale Metro-North train station. You have to cross through the station and find the gate at the end of the platform that is closest to the Hudson River. Once on the promenade, there are 3-4 access points built for viewing the Hudson River and the New Jersey cliffs. There are some benches and a railing to keep you from falling into the river itself. Once there, one should note there are not a lot of comfortable spaces. The area is currently (Summer 2020) overgrown with weeds. There are also no easy paths to the water, as it is all rocks and debris. I would rate this area dangerous for most people. A lot of people, however, fish here. People also do other things that are probably not always legal. It is exciting in some respects because of its proximity to the train tracks and the water, but be careful with your footing. I have gone there many times now, & called 311 because it needs to be cleaned, & fixed up. I have noticed drug addicts inside, & garbage everywhere.
