As an ODU student I always enjoy going to Whitehurst to enjoy the sunset. There are usually container, oil and some Navy ships as well as sailboats going by which can add to the enjoyment. However, the area can be a bit sketchy after dark.

The beach is on ODU campus, it is small, but the scenery is nice. Sometimes you can see big cargo ships passing through or you can watch the sailing or crew teams with their boats in the water. There's also a small playground and volleyball right there on looking the beach as well. It's a nice place to go to relax after a long day.

The only downside is the size of the actual sand part of the beach, aside from...

Great place to get some quiet time and enjoy the view. Boat ramp and pier are ODU maintained. ODU sailing center activities nearby. Parking is limited during weekdays. Busy during the academic year...
