The Ceramic Shop — Attraction in Norristown

I've ordered small items from The Ceramic shop before, but when I decided to make the leap to buy a kiln, I knew there were many places to choose from. However, they offered great deals and prices, and I was already aware that they provided prompt service.

But wow! Throughout this kiln-buying process, they were on top of it! First, I accidentally placed an order for 208V instead of 240V, which I caught the day after placing the order. When I contacted their logistics coordinator, Chael, they resolved the issue with no problem.

When Skutt was experiencing a backlog in orders, Chael kept in contact with me and let me know that it was still in progress but delayed. I really appreciate the communication!

Then I got my kiln! The freight guy was so nice, and although he didn't have to, he offered to drop it in my garage instead of having me carry it on my dolly. After I started unpacking, I realized that the gloves and Evirovent I had ordered weren't included with my order. I contacted Chael, and they were right on top of it. I received the gloves and vent in under a week. WOW!

So, in short, the Ceramic Shop has put together an excellent team; from logistics to freight partners to all of it! I made my first visit to The Ceramic Shop this past weekend, I have been ordering from them on line for a few years. As a ceramics artist, this place is really fun to visit, its like Christmas, I could have spent a few hours and a lot of money there. Their selection of glazes/clay/supplies and organization of items and tools makes it very easy to find just what you're looking for and also find that thing you didn't know you needed. I was sad that I was on a tight time line so I needed to make a quick visit.

I was picking up an order I placed online the day before, I went into the shop because I needed to remove some clay from that order and get different items instead. Mandee was there to help me with a big smile and lots of positive energy. She was great and made the changes on my order, checked me out and even brought order to the car.

There are so many supply chain issues right now with clay/glazes/chemicals and as an artist it can be hard to find what you need but going into the shop and looking around I was able to find great alternatives and it was really fun to be "in person" and browse all the supplies that ARE available. I will be going back again soon when I have the time to spend there and visit with my new pal...

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. I just recently purchased a wheel from this shop online. I received a confirmation email that my order had been processed but no email with tracking information. I waited a couple days and heard nothing so I sent an email asking about it. Nothing. So I sent a couple more. And 4 phone calls. Both phone calls went through voicemail. I’ve tried to contact them. That I’m extremely frustrated to not have heard anything and that I no longer want the product for the sheer negligence and disregard they show for their customers. IT HAS BEEN OVER A MONTH OF TRYING TO CONTACT THEM. Lack of attentiveness that makes me doubt what kind of quality their products might have. If they can’t ensure the quality of their customer service, I can’t have the faith that they will in their product. They stated on their website and in the order that shipping would take about 2 weeks. The worst part about not being able to contact them is that I cant be sure they’ll cancel my wheel order so I can buy one from somewhere else. They’ve practically stolen my money at this point.
