She teaches her students not just how to complete a given project but emphasizes creativity, encouraging each child to make the piece their own. Ada loves art class with Ilana. Ilana is able to connect with every child where they are and help them grow as artists. Ada loves going to class every week. Ilana is also a genuinely kind and thoughtful person. I feel very safe leaving Ada with her and know she looks out for her students as if they were her own children. My 6 year old loves Ilana's studio, and I do too! As a family with an art background some of the projects generally put in front of kids are so 'paint by numbers', do this, make it look like this at the end. Ilana is different! she inspires the kids with creative prompts - showing them art from the greats, and provides ideas which allow the kids to enjoy the process without constraint.
