Worst service of any establishment I have ever been to. Don’t ever call ahead for your order because they don’t take that into account. They’ll start your order 20 minutes AFTER you get there and tell them you’re there to pick up an order. Such a shame they have no system in place and TERRIBLE management. This is the 2nd weekend in a row I order from this business and just disappointing overall. Why even take phone orders? It’s for customers convenience to place an order over the phone and have the order ready when they arrive. Last weekend I called, they told me 25 minutes, for 2 bacon, egg, cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, ketchup and a hash brown on a roll. I arrived, waited about 10 minutes before coming to the cashier and asking if my order was ready… at this point it had been 35 min. She said it’ll be ready soon. Another check in 10 minutes later and same response “it’ll be ready soon” - it took 55 minutes for 2 sandwiches.. REALLY?!?! I gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they were super busy, forgot my order, having a bad day… ok, let’s fast forward to the next weekend (today) where I call my order ahead, this time for 3 of the same sandwiches… over the phone she tells me 15 minutes. I arrive and waited an extra 5 min before approaching cashier to ask for my order (total time from the time I called is now 25 minutes) BOY this was my mistake.. those extra 5 minutes were costly. Lady at the cashier again tells me the order will be ready soon. Fast forward after an additional checkin’ we are now 30 minutes in - I demand a refund because at this point I placed an order at Bagel Boys in North Brunswick (much better customer service and overall business and food accuracy) and they tell me to hold on….. I see them scrambling, making something that looks like my order…. Lady comes with a brown bag and hands me my food. I told her no thank you, I’d like a refund please she tells me she can’t do that and to take the food. At this point I’m heated because your service is trash and I should not have to pay because you decide to start my order the moment I ask for a refund. Overall, I left and guess what. My entire order was WRONG! Jokes on them, because I will be getting my refund. Save your money, time and sanity because the service here is nonexistent. They do not value their customers. I wanna preface this by saying i’m not an annoying customer by any means. I was patient, I would never snap on anyone or make anyone’s job harder than it needs to be, and i’ve worked in food service so I really am coming from a place of understanding. I’m just very frustrated at my most recent experience and needed to warn others. Regardless, be sure you support local businesses like this one and be patient and understanding in this time that we’re all stressed and all need grace.
The food here is really good (best bagels i’ve had in town) but the service is terrible. I understand being short staffed but consistently? Or at least accounting for your high customer volume and having items prepped to order? SOMETHING.
You walk in and it’s just confusion. No signs directing the line and in the age of covid, no social distancing markers. Half the staff isn’t wearing their mask correctly but you wouldn’t notice right away because no one greets you. You just stand there and they ignore you until someone feels like taking your order. After that you just wait...and wait...and wait. I waited 40 minutes (im not joking, after like 15 minutes I started the timer and waited an additional 30-40 minutes) for 2 bagels. I got a cappuccino too but had to pour it out because it was so water down it wasn’t worth it. (I think it depends on who opens that day but the product should be consistent no matter who’s there. ) After waiting, there’s no apology, no explanation , just the expectation you have to wait on them. I would say order ahead but even those that did had to wait and/or were so confused they joking the regular wait (i’m not gonna say “line” cuz there was no line, just confusion). People were literally getting upset because they ordered ahead on their lunch break and they still waste time.
If you don’t have anywhere to be, order here. The food is (sometimes) worth it and you’re supporting a small business. If you’re busy and have any other options, avoid this place if you can. Again I’m not trying to be annoying, just hoping no one else wastes their time like i had to. The restaurant called me within ten minutes of my order going through, to relay they didn't have half of the items I ordered, or ingredients to make the things I ordered. I told them that it's fine, and they can cancel the order. The woman told me I have to tell doordash to cancel it it. Ok, fine. I called Doordash and they said the restaurant needs to cancel it on their end in order for me to get the full refund. When I called back the woman says(this is all within 4 or 5 minutes) "we don't have your order. We don't even use doordash" and hung up. I called back several times and a man kept answering and yelling they don't have the order and don't use doordash, that I have the wrong number, etc. It took over an hour corresponding with doordash to get my full refund, because the restaurant did not cancel the order they supposedly did not have. My doordash driver showed up since they did not cancel, and they even yelled at him. Bad customers service, dishonest, and rude.
