South Central Park is a lovely park in the center of North Ridgeville, Ohio. There is a large lake divided into two parts. At one time the smaller part was for swimming, but now both parts are for fishing. There are many pavilions for picnics and parties. It is first come first served with the pavilions, so get there early as they are very popular. However, there are other areas for picnics on the grass. There is a basketball court with several hoops along with a tennis court with four nets. For children there is a Splash Pad, which is open during the summer, and a large playground which is open all year long. The playground is nestled in a tree-filled area so there is always filtered sun. Children can play for hours with no threat of sunburn or hurting themselves on hot slides. In front of the playground is a special water fountain for bottle fill, a regular drinking fountain, and a special fountain for dogs. There is a long asphalt trail that goes around the lake, into the woods, across the street to the public library, and all the way to the middle school. This trail is perfect for walking, running, biking, or dog walking. For dog owners, there are three poop stations with free poop bags and covered receptacles for the filled bags. There are geese and ducks in the lake which make a mess but add to the beauty of the park. One is not allowed to feed them, but it is fun to see the ducklings and goslings in the spring. Near the old swimming area is an excercise pad with five different pieces of excercise equipment. There are two public restroom areas. All are handicapped accessible. There is a large parking area of Route 83 or Avon Beldon Road and a smaller one off Bainbridge Road. The Corn Fest is held the second weekend in August in front of the park on Bainbridge Road. On the Saturday before the 4th of July there is a wonderful fireworks display. There is a lovely gazabo for concerts, weddings, Pokemon Go gym, and the Christmas tree lighting. South Central is the perfect place to have fun at any time of the year and...
Read moreThis park is a great park. It has gotten better in the last 20 years. I remember going here as a kid back in 1998-9 and there really wasn't much There was a gazebo, picnic area, pond, basketball and tennis courts and that was pretty much it. As a kid I used to roll down this little hill that used to be much bigger back then Of course I was only 6 years old of course everything was big.! But back then it was peaceful and to this day it is still peaceful It's directly across from the police station and the library Wich staffs the nicest people you will ever meet. Now some 20 years later they've added a workout station they've updated the playground they even added a splash pad they've improved what they have to offer while still keeping a calm happy enviroment for both young and old. And if you're lucky you might even get to see a parade of dogs walking along side there owners in what is called a pack walk. It's a great sight to see as dogs of all variety walk thru such a beautiful little park in the city. I encourage you to come see...
Read moreThis park is well known by locals in the summer months for the nice sized play area for the kids. There is a splash zone for younger children on hot days. And outdoor games near the woods for older kids. There are ball courts, and it's not visible from the pond side. Many generations can enjoy something here...be it just chilling in the pavillions for picnics or minor fishing. There are outdoor gym activities in place... and a nice trail that goes around the pond. Geese and ducks seem to be at home here. Central Park is a quiet spot for photos. Or just taking some down time to read. Many people walk their dogs on the trail. While others prefer the crackling leaves in the little woods for a quicker walk. There's a nice hill that kids can run up and just play whatever the imagination brings to mind. I really like this park for a change of pace. And, it's not surprising that during the summer months, the park has its busy moments. As far as dog walking, it's any season... just keep in mind that rainy days might be a bit more...
