Divine Experience at the Hanuman Temple in Greater Chicago

For the past four to five months, my wife and I have had the privilege of visiting beautiful Hanuman Temple of Greater Chicago located in Glenview, IL regularly, and every visit has been nothing short of a spiritually uplifting experience. From the moment we step inside, we are enveloped by an overwhelming sense of peace, positivity, and devotion. The temple is meticulously maintained, radiating cleanliness and a serene ambiance that instantly instills a feeling of divine connection.

One of the standout aspects of this temple is the dedicated Hanuman Sevaks and Volunteers, who are always available to guide devotees with prayers, rituals, and spiritual advice. Their warmth, humility, and devotion truly enhance the temple experience, making every visitor feel welcomed and blessed. Their dedication in organizing and conducting pujas, bhajans, and Hanuman Chalisa recitations creates an atmosphere of deep devotion and bhakti.

The temple is not just a place of worship but also a hub of cultural and social engagement. Throughout the year, it hosts various festivals like Mahashivratri, Holi, Hanuman Jayanti, Ram Navmi ,other cultural programs, and spiritual discourses, keeping the community connected to its rich traditions. The temple also takes the initiative to organize educational programs for children, imparting values of Hindu culture, spirituality, and scriptures, ensuring that younger generations stay rooted in their heritage.

Another highlight of our visits is the prasad (food offerings) provided at the temple. The prasad is always delicious, sattvic, and served with love, making it a blissful experience to partake in after prayers. The temple also conducts social service activities and volunteer programs, giving devotees an opportunity to contribute and engage in selfless service (seva). I have personally been involved in some of these volunteering activities, and it has been a deeply fulfilling experience.

Beyond all the cultural, spiritual, and social aspects, what truly makes this temple special for us is the divine presence of Pavanputra, Rudra Avatar , Ram Bhakta Hanumanji. Every time we visit, we feel His blessings and protection surrounding us, filling our hearts with faith, strength, and gratitude.

For anyone looking for a place of worship, peace, and community, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this Hanuman Temple. Whether you come to pray, volunteer, or simply soak in the divine vibrations, this temple offers an experience that is truly transformative and spiritually enriching.

I have a special connection with Lord Hanumanji. Growing up in Mumbai, since my college days, I always visited a Hanuman temple on Saturdays.

This continued through my growing years but it always used to make me nervous when I travelled out of India, if I will get to visit a Hanuman temple. In 2015-16, I travelled to the UK, near London. I explored the area and found a Hindu Temple in EastHam. Eventually the temple was renovated and a Huge murti of Hanumanji was installed. I was absolutely thrilled.

My next assignment in Feb 2017 happened to be in Chicagoland. I was in a hotel in Arlington Heights and the first thing I searched for in Google Maps was “Hindu Temple”. The top result was Hanuman Mandir of Greater Chicago. I saw some pictures of the Huge Dwimukhi Hanuman and immediately knew this would be my regular temple in the US. My first Saturday in the US, I visited the temple. As I entered, I Immediately felt a deep spiritual connection.. The temple was beyond beautiful. It had beautiful Vigrahams of so many Hindu Gods,it was mesmerising with Hanumanji right at the centre.

I stayed in Chicagoland till Aug 2021, and my connection with Hanumanji and the temple only grew over time. Let there be a snow-storm or rain, me and my family would be there at the temple. During COVID, the temple premises were closed for a few months, but we used to drive to the parking lot, take darshan from outside and leave.

Best thing about the temple is that all are included. Aartis are not between just the Pandits and God. Each one of us is part of the prayer. There is Sundarkand Paath and Mata ki Chowki performed by devotees on every alternating Saturday, followed by Mahaprasad. Other than this, the temple has numerous activities all throughout the year, celebrated in style and with full devotion. All Hindu festivals are celebrated in a Grand fashion. Activities are conducted such that people from all ages feel included. Right from children to senior citizens. Other fun activities, fun-fair etc are also conducted drawing a huge number of devotees.

My connection with Hanumanji took me back to the temple in November 2023. Temple is currently undergoing a huge upgrade thanks to the devotees.

This temple for me was easily one of the highlights of my stay in the US, I still miss going to the temple on Saturdays but thanks to technology I still feel connected.

It is a must visit for all living in the Chicago area. Make it a habit and feel the power of Hanumanji positively impact your lives.

I am Christian but My family and I enjoy to studying other cultures and religions. I feel we are all Brothers and Sisters, I am 94 miles away from this Temple or about 1 hour and 30 minute drive. I had Surgery in Glenview and I had to complete my Physical Therapy in Glenview twice a week for about a year. One day I was coming back from a Physical Therapy appointment and I pulled into the parking lot to use my phone. I didn’t know what the building was but it was so beautiful I drove to the front to see what it was. I saw Hanumanji. I didn’t know who he was but I felt positive energy, peace and calmness. I was going through a hard time at the time so it was a relief to feel this. I feel Hanumanji called me to him. I didn’t take his picture because I didn’t know if it would be disrespectful to but when I got home I studied information about him and the Temple. My family was invited to the Temple so we visited outside and studied him as a family and we praised him. Since then I have been praying to Hanumanji and when in the area I give him fruit and ask him for for positive things for me and my family and friends. I thank him for his many Blessings. Hanumanji has blessed me and my family in so many ways. I know he removes negative obstacles from your life which he has for my family and I. He is the God of Courage snd he is a messenger. I love fallowing him. I was invited to the Temple for a Hanumanji Blessing which was a great experience. I appreciate the Priest who did this and the Temple member who arranged the Hanumanji Blessing for me. It gave me so much protection. I appreciate the kindness of the people who did this, . I love Hanumanji and I appreciate everything he had done for us. This Temple is one of the most beautiful places I have been.
