I enjoyed a horseback ride with a remarkable woman, Leolani, who gives private rides. The park is beautiful but Leolani, has spent her entire life growing up on this land. Not only are her horses with great temperament but Leolani's knowledge of the park is truly what made my ride special She has seen the changes take place from being a child to an adult. Over 5 decades. She explained everything from the native growth to the invasive growth of foliage and the effects it has had on the environment. I rode Tucker as she rode Playboy. At the end of my ride she showed me how Playboy could count fingers and most importantly how much Playboy loved having his picture taken. The photo burst king. Playboy would outstretch his knack over my shoulder and smile wanting me to use my photo burst option on my camera taking multiple shots. I would highly recommend Leolani and her horses to everyone who gets the chance to ride. It is not a tail to nose line ride. It is personable and intimate, not to mention the knowledge of the park you receive while you ride. I spent 3 weeks in Hawaii and of all things I did this was by...

Nakoa Trail:

I've had my fair share of hikes and in my opinion I didn't really enjoy this one. There's no scenic lookouts. But I do know that there's a few WWII bunkers if you go off trail just a bit. Yay to nature walks and all but this trail was littered with sharp-edged, long hala leaves. I was being careful with each step but still got scratched up. I took my dog along and he got scratched up a little bit too.

Aloha there's a certain time I love to go there on my way to the temple and I pick up certain types of shells there they're called wendal traps and is white clam shell has both sides and it's real small it's very transparent there's a Tree swing people can put their boats in the water. people canoe you don't go in the water where the water comes from the mountains into the bay if the water is brown you stay out of the water you don't go in the water if it's brown because you can't see what's in the water and I'm not talking about Predators also be a water runoff that's not clean so one of the rules on Oahu if its been raining in the mountains in the water is brown there's always going to be a beach that is clear it's going to be away from where the streams go into these Bays so most time they're clear we have a little bit of a rainy season maybe a day a week maybe another little storm will come and go Jet Ski Ramp we had Church camp there...

Parking was a bit confusing and weird. But we parked around the other cars hoping we didn’t get broken into or towed. The trail begins to up through a neighborhood. Houses look rough but no one gave us trouble going to the trail head. Once in the trail we took the loop to the right. BRING BUG SPRAY. My gf forgot to bring the bug spray and we got ate up. The trail is muddy and there’s a part you cross a creek so you will get wet. On the map it called for another water stop near the top right but we didn’t see it. It’s an interesting hike for sure making our way, crawling and hoping over trees. Eventually you run into a little swim spot near the end where locals were swimming. If you take the hike to the left from the start you’ll run into the swimming area right away. Enjoy!

Ahupua’a ‘O Kahana state park was such an amazing view. I loved being so close to paradise on earth. We hiked all the way to the top of crouching lion and payed our respects to the two crosses of people who have passed away on the hike. The hike was very muddy (wear boots). The hike is about a 6 when it comes to difficultly. Some steep parts, coming down we were able to grab onto a rope. We took the trail to the right to head up, very steep!! Would recommend going up from the left and down from the same trail. Park down the street in the parking lot. Also, if you get the chance, across the street from crouching lion trail head is a sweet rope swing next to the ocean. Check it out! We did the hike with an 10 year old btw.
