Wow, wonderful, tremendous, extraordinary! This kayak adventure down the Kahana river and into the ocean was all those words and more. We were greeted with the true aloha spirit ❤️ This family owned business was truly kind, thoughtful and personable.
We rented two single kayaks and make sure you get the phone case because you’ll want to take pictures. We made our kayak trip up the Kahana river which was calm and surrounded by lush green jungle. There’s a swing on a tree by the river if one should want to take a dip and cool off. This was a leisurely paddle which took us about an hour with stops to enjoy the scenery until nature told us to turn around (trees in the river). We then back tracked towards the ocean. You’re surrounded by beautiful mountains and jungle until you reach the ocean. The beauty of the view was extraordinary and my camera could not to it justice. We then made our way back to the dock. The whole experience lasted 3 hours with many stops to bask in Hawaii’s sunshine and beauty. During this whole adventure, we did not come in contact with anyone on the river which made it such an intimate experience.
We were greeted by the owners and their adorable dogs 🥰. They gifted us refreshing iced coconut drinks they grow on the property. While we finished the delicious coconut water, we chatted and enjoyed their company. This family has lived on this land for generations and it was wonderful to support a local family owned business. I will be doing this again with any family member that comes to visit me on Oahu because it was that amazing of...

We were welcomed to kayak down a peaceful, breathtaking river surrounded by lush greenery and mountains that looked like something out of a dream. We found a perfect little spot to hang out by the water, complete with a rope swing that added to the magic. We made sure to be respectful of the land, enjoyed some snacks, and cleaned up after ourselves—because this place deserves to be cherished.
After our three-hour adventure, we returned and were greeted by the incredible Lena, who made us feel like family. She even opened the shaved ice stand just for us (which, by the way, was delicious). We ended up sitting and talking with her for so long, it honestly felt like catching up with a favorite aunt. Her warmth, stories, and hospitality completely took away the homesick feeling we didn’t even realize we had.
Their sweet dog kept us company the whole time while we enjoyed our treat, and it was just one more reminder of how special this place is—not just the scenery, but the people. Everyone we met was so genuine and kind.
We’re already planning to come back before we leave the island. This wasn’t just a fun excursion—it was a soulful, unforgettable moment we’ll carry with us forever. Thank you for sharing your land, your kindness, and your spirit...

TL;DR: A wonderfully relaxing kayak or paddle board trip through a gorgeous river and an option to paddle out to the bay.
Immediately upon arrival Lena made us feel very welcomed. Everything was very relaxed and comfortable and the vibe they give off is one of family.
Once we got into the river from their dock it becomes immediately apparent that you're somewhere special. There is no need to hurry, no waves to paddle past (yet), and nowhere to be but where you are. The river is gorgeous and lined with dense tropical foliage. Everything feels unreal, as if ripped off a movie set. Take your time, paddle slow, and take in the views. Also, bring some snacks and drinks.
The river is a down and back situation. On the way back you'll pass Kahana Adventures dock and keep paddling until you're in the very shallow and calm bay (at least it was when we went, your mileage may vary). We paddled along and prodded the seafloor with our paddles and it was generally about 3' depending on most places. We decided to paddle over to a strip of sand, beach the kayak, and jump in the water. Everything was lovely.
Upon returning to Kahana Adventures we were greatest with fresh and cold coconuts to drink, an outdoor shower to rinse off with, and restrooms to get changed in. We didn't want to leave and stayed for awhile chatting Lena and DJ's ears off. Eventually we decided to go but are already looking forward to visiting again our next time...
