Read moreHi! This is Hawaii Real Estate Agent Tangee Lazarus, part of the amiable team at the main gate. People all over the world have seen an Instagram post of uncertain provenance. The post appears to depict a young woman on the road right after coming through the main gate. She is doing a slow twirl with the breathtaking paradise scenery as a backdrop. Women from different countries thousands of miles away have come to this park determined to emulate this post, without knowing if it is real or fake. They are not concerned that the chosen spot is right after a blind turn in the road, and oncoming traffic cannot see them until it is almost too late to stop. The desires of other people to enter the park do not factor in to their decision making processes. It has proven useless to try to stop people from taking pictures that appear to show them on the road to paradise. But wait! What if I posted about various other spots in the park where a photographer can achieve the same effect?
At the very top of the site, the road is closed to vehicles. The road becomes too narrow for two-way traffic. But you CAN go around the barrier (traffic cones and a flimsy wooden horse) to walk this additional quarter mile. You will be on the same road, with an even better view of the mountains. You won't risk death or injury, because there are no cars. No one will call the main office to complain traffic is at a stand still, and staff is not doing their jobs. The risk to staff of unemployment and inevitable homelessness drops considerably. You will have time to frame your pictures and whatever else you need to do because there won't be anyone rushing you. Everyone wins.
Let us see if anyone follows this advice and if so, I will post other spots in the park that have...
