I didn't realize this would be a Google Maps attraction since the Pillbox Hike itself should cover both pillboxes up on this hike. But since I've been here, I guess I'll make a few remarks.
It is quite beautiful up there with a good breeze and you're only a slight bit higher than the first pillbox. Regardless, with the right camera, you can see quite a bit and can take some pretty awesome panoramic pictures atop the pillpox. I did notice that it took a bit of effort to get on top of the concrete pillbox because some of the tourons were sitting right in the way of the lowest point to climb on top. You'd think they'd be either courteous or have the sense enough to realize this spot was exactly where most people climb atop and move but I guess courtesy/sense isn't so common anymore. Hike up isnt too bad unless your completely new to hiking or taking verticallyinclined trails, I'd suggest wearing some all terrain boots lol, it does rain on a daily basis here so it gets slippery. Parking is hard to find and you can only park on the left side of the lanes, which most are "ONE WAYS" -. You really dont have to wear a coat up you'll end up taking it off. I've done this hike countless times and it's one of my favorites, but when I hiked it the other moring for sunrise, I picked up 2 still warm cups of coffee and the biggest can of energy drink I've ever seen. I am both angry and sad.
