Great spot to bring your dog. The dog park that we frequent in Chicago is closed for construction, and Cowboy was getting a little wild without an outlet for energy. Looked up places for him to run and this was the first one we tried.
We went on Saturday 11/7 and it was decently busy when we arrived. Small parking area, but lucked out and got a spot. There's a nice loop to walk and there were tons of dogs for Cowboy to chill (i.e. sprint around) with. We spent about 90 minutes there, and there weren't any crazy dog owners or helicopter parents, which is good.
DuPage County Forest Preserve Police showed up to check permits near the end of our time there. Officer was respectful and just asked folks to show him permits as they were leaving or entering the dog park. We had spent the money on a one-day pass, but the lady in front of us got popped for not having a permit, so the officer was busy writing a ticket as we were leaving and didn't ask to see our permit. I'm fine not talking to cops, even if they do just work for the forest preserve, but I would recommend spending the money on a permit if you go as they seem pretty serious about...
Read moreOur dog loves it here! We try not to take her right after it rains because it definitely gets really muddy, but if you aren't afraid of that, people still go and your pup will have other dogs to play with. There is a small dog and big dog section to allow smaller dogs to play with friends their own size. There are fewer dogs in the small dog section, but I think people with small dogs like it that way? I'm not positive. It's a really nice place to hang out while your dog gets plenty of exercise. We haven't personally had any issues with overly aggressive dogs or neglectful owners, but have heard there are a couple bad apples to watch out for. Still would highly recommend, but you should always keep an eye out...
Read moreBeen coming here since 2010. Beautiful, well kept Dog park. Seems so many people there with unsupervised dogs in the last month or so. ( not picking up after their dogs, aggressive behavior) I think whom ever checks petmits, should be checking a bit more. I know a few of the people I have spoke with there, said they were not aware they needed one?! Hmmmm... My dog was attacked there 6 weeks ago. He had to have surgery with many stitches and tubes in his throat. He is ok now, thank God! The person who owned the other dog, paid the whole bill. But, think certain breeds should not be able to go into park or should be kept leashed. Bottom line: Have a permit! Watch your dog(s) at all times and pick...
