Really great museum. Not what I was expecting. We arrived and paid the fee all the while I was thinking $7 each sounded expensive for such a small place. I enjoyed reading about the local heros. There were a couple of interactive displays we had fun with. Then we saw that we could try on night vision googles in a special room. We did that and observed a miniture model of the town. We looked for specific items hidden within the model. Then my son tried out the flight simulator. I thought we were just about done but then a volunteer took a group of us across the street to tour a plane and other items. I won't spoil what's in the outside storage for you. He wasn't giving a tour or interacting with us at all, just creepily lurking around a far corner. I don't know if he was paranoid about petty crime or what, but it ruined any chance of relaxing or enjoying ourselves. The only good part was going across the street, because we went with another staff member who behaved normally.

Read moreThe museum moved from a location on the Naval Base to right in the heart of downtown Oak Harbor. It is a must see for locals and visitors. It displays artifacts and historical items from the history of Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island and all the aircraft that flew from NAS Whidbey since 1942. The is a restored PBY across the street with many other military items for viewing too. See it all. You will have a wonderful visit and learn a lot. Bring your kids and grandkids.
