I experienced my first tandem skydive at Skydive Coastal Carolinas almost a month ago. I wanted to wait until I had processed this transformative, life changing, faith-affirming experience before posting but I'm not sure I'm ever going to have the words, so....

If you are considering jumping out of a perfectly good plane, this is the place to do it! Each person I interacted with before, during and after my tandem jump were spot on - personable, professional, knowledgeable. Before making my appointment I called several times. Sixty is not too old! And I wasn't too heavy-whew! And yes, some do get motion sick so I took the meds. They worked. Take the meds!

I loved every minute and it was over way too soon. Friends and family are surprised to hear that free-fall was my favorite - exquisite, peaceful, calming, centering...that my first thought when the parachute opened was "Oh no, it's almost over!".

Mr. B and I were both super impressed with Oatsey. He was the perfect first tandem instructor. Thank you so much for kindness, humor, respect and the best vibe around!

So, live your life, do things!! Defy stereotypes and expectations! If you are yearning to do this thing, do it here! The views are exquisite, the people are top notch, and it is empowering in a way that I cannot begin to explain. And definitely get the...

Yesterday, while out on a long run here at Oak Island, NC I ran by a sign for sky diving. I have wanted to try this for awhile, I took it as a sign!

After returning from my run I looked it up and booked a jump quickly. So quickly, it was at the wrong site! Luckily, I got it all fixed and in less than 30 minutes I was all set.

Today My hubby dropped me off at the Skydive Coastal Carolinas and I was all alone-no chance to chicken out! I had a quick video and training and Tyler my instructor had me ready in less than a hour.

The plane is small and only four people can fit-it is very tight! After about 10 minutes we reached 10,000 ft so it was time to jump. I wasn’t too scared till the door opened. A cold rush of air came in and we quickly scooted to the door and I put both feet on the wing and waited for the command.

It was the most surreal thing ever. It was calm and didn’t drop my stomach. It felt like I was flying! After about a minute the chute was deployed which didn’t jerk either and I was taught how to steer-what a rush! It went so fast and before I knew it I was landing back onto the ground-again super gentle. I’m so glad I decided to go. Anyone wanting to...

I brought my boyfriend here as a surprise as neither of us had never done this and we've always wanted to. Let me tell you, this has been the most amazing experience I've ever had before. Aaron was my instructor and John was my boyfriend's instructor. We were both so incredibly happy with the two of them. They were so laid back and kind, which really helped ease some jitters. If you're on the fence about whether or not you really wanna do this, you will not regret it for a second if you do. This will be the place we will continue to come to. My bf and I plan on taking more trips to the coast and jumping again, each time. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Update: 6 months later and we had to go again. Let me just say this, your second jump will be SOOOOOO MUCH better than your first. Already knowing what to expect makes all the difference. I was able to fully enjoy the experience and take in the scenery. Please, if you've gone once and aren't sure about doing it again, DO IT!!!!!! Going for my third jump in a couple weeks. Can't get enough of it now. Went with Aaron again this second time, going with him fir...

I was so surprised at the camaraderie throughout the entire process. All the students, instructors, and solo jumpers were so friendly and stoked to be at the facility. It reminded me of my time in the Marine Corp. There were all walks of life represented in the hanger... everyday joes, dads, young professionals, salty veterans, tattooed hipsters, CrossFit chicks, and oldtimers. Everyone had a smile on their faces, it's tough to contain your joy when you have so many good naturally produced chemicals running through your bloodstream. I didn't quite grasp it until I landed, and then I got it. It's so easy to understand why so many diverse groups could interact together and get along. It's a tribe, and one that's so welcoming it's tough not to love all the people there. Everyone I spoke with was just so positive and willing to share experiences, whether it was their gear, packing chutes, first jump, jobs, or goals, it was an amazing experience that will change the way you seek your adrenaline fix. Shout out to John, the dude was cool as a cucumber, an excellent tandem partner. I'll be back.
