Update: Reports are that the trail has been cleared and is now open. Revising my review rating to reflect that. A great, mostly flat trail through the trees around the meadow. One of the few in Yosemite that is dog friendly, but bring clean water for your pet! In the spring, the creek may be difficult to cross without getting wet. Original review: Normally a great trail, but as of March 20, 2021, it is impassible due to the number of fallen trees. The NE side going clockwise from the hotel is better, but only expect to get 1/3 to 1/2 of the way. See latest photos.

drove in toward the Wawona Meadow Loop Trailhead via Chowchilla Mountain Road, and after miles of rugged dirt and gravel, it was a breath of fresh air to emerge into the wide, green meadow at the trailhead. The drive itself is beautiful but remote—lined with pines, manzanita, and stunning mountain views—and then suddenly everything opens up into calm, open space. The meadow is peaceful, the air is crisp, and it feels like you’ve truly arrived somewhere special. A perfect reward after an adventurous drive!

The view was good and all,but there was horse poop on 90% of the trail. I wouldn’t have minded this if there weren’t so many mosquitoes that where attracted to the horse poop. Because of all the mosquitoes, I was constantly itching myself and was uncomfortable for the rest of my stay until the bites went away. I could barely enjoy the view because I was constantly swatting mosquitoes away from me. If I could give zero stars I would. Don’t go here unless you want to be itching yourself for the...
