Ocqueoc Falls near Onaway, Michigan, is one of those places that feels like a peaceful escape from everyday life. I first stumbled upon it during a road trip through northern Michigan, and it quickly became one of my favorite spots. It’s the largest waterfall in the Lower Peninsula, but what makes it really special is how accessible it is—you don’t have to hike miles to get there, and the paths are wheelchair- and stroller-friendly, which is rare for a natural site like this.

The sound of the falls is instantly calming, and there are plenty of spots to sit, dip your feet in the water, or even wade in if the weather's warm enough. Families were picnicking nearby, kids were laughing in the stream, and it just had this easy, welcoming vibe. I appreciated how clean and well-maintained the area was, with clear signage, restrooms, and picnic tables.

It’s not a huge waterfall, but it has a quiet beauty that makes it feel personal and memorable. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Ocqueoc Falls is worth the stop—especially if you’re looking to slow down and reconnect with nature for a little while. I’ll definitely...

I recently learned of this place and will DEFINITELY be returning. Nice, neat and clean park with camping available. You do need a recreational pass to enter. Once parked, it is a very short walk on a cement pathway to the falls. Though not a big waterfalls, it is worth a see. I myself LOVE this sound. There are then the normal paths made by visitors and that is where I got my biggest surprise. I was clueless you could find Petoskey on Michigan's east "coast" but indeed, they are to be found here. I came home with several. There are "bathrooms" there also that are fairly well maintained and did not make me feel as if I was entering the Eternal...

Beautiful place, great facilities for picnic, trails are well kept, public bathrooms, only issues weve had is that we CONSTANTLY have to clean up broken glass while we are there either on the shoreor in the water, mainly at the lower set of falls our kids even found some while looking for rocks in the water!!! Such a sad state of things when people want to be so inconsiderate to our state parks and our planet! Watch...

We love the falls. But it's always very busy. We drove past in a Sunday in July and didn't stop because cars were parked outside the park. We went on Monday and there were still lots of people there. We like how there are steps right down to the water. Lots of people were swimming since it was hot. I strongly suggest water shoes if you are going in the water because the river is a fishing hot spot.

This is a beautiful waterfall area in the lower peninsula! As far as I know, the only waterfalls in the lower. We enjoyed a picnic lunch here with picnic tables not too far away from the parking lot. Then we did some hiking and picked up a geocache. The trails were very peaceful and wooded, and we didn't run into anybody. We enjoyed this place!
