Today my husband and I had only one day in OK City and chose to visit this museum. We paid the admission and shortly after we arrived, a swarm of kids, obviously on a field trip, were running thru the halls, yelling, and walking in front of us and other guests while reading some of the plaques on the wall. We decided to take a little detour in the museum to visit one of the short movies on the cowboys and they came running in talking loudly and making a scene. I asked them to shush and they left, but they were just right outside the door so we could still hear them yelling. These kids were being chaperoned and not one of the chaperones told them to be quiet or taught them the meaning of respect for other people when visiting other places. It was frankly unacceptable. There were multiple kids from multiple schools and grades and they all acted like they never got out. We were so mad and disappointed that we asked for our money back, which we got. But that's not the point. If the schools are going to make these places a field trip, they need to teach the kids that they're not the only ones visiting these places and to keep the ruckus down. Your museum was very large and voices carried, so it was a very unpleasant atmosphere. I am mad that I didn't get to enjoy the museum. What we saw we really enjoyed, and that was only the first half hour we were there. I'm also unhappy about the museum not telling us that we would be overrun by these kids upon arriving, so we were the ones that had to make a decision to leave. I'm disappointed that we didn't get to do the one thing we had on our list to see/do while visiting the area for this one day. I wish when school groups were invading public places, they're taught to respect others and allow others to enjoy. I'm sorry I had to write this review. I would have loved to give it a 5 star review because I really wanted to see...

Wow! What a place. In fact more than one can take in one visit. So allow plenty of time to see what interests you the most. From paintings, tepees, western towns, to tributes on pretend TV cowboys, it is an excellent place to spend an afternoon, day, or two! They have some nice outside exhibits especially for children and great walking paths through statues and water features. A wonderful museum. Very comprehensive but never boring!

I can start by saying that this is one of the best museum/attractions that I have ever been to in the US. Their docents are great as soon as you walk in and are very helpful. The amount of memorabilia they have is amazing and the exhibits are so well done it is awesome. They have tons a personal items from western heroes and film stars as well as a great collection of old guns, saddles, etc from the past. If you are in OKC, you must visit this place. You should also plan at least 3-4 hours minimum when you and to really see everything, make it 5-6 hours. You will not be disappointed.

It is worth a 90 minute stop. Some of the paintings were beautiful and many were for sale. The highest price tag I noticed was $60,000.00

There were some roaming employees who were very knowledgeable and helpful.

An amazing museum, you need at least three hours to appreciate this place. It's filled with cowboy/cowgirl history. Native American communal information abounds. Hollywood cowboy heroes are specially remembered and there is an entire display devoted to barbed wire! There's something for everyone interested in...
