River Park — Attraction in Oklahoma City

It use to be a cool spot to go and hang out. Seen people go and teach the kiddos how to drive as there is so much open space out there. There has always been some homeless people out there that might have a tent or two set up off in the trees or in some of the lots off to the side of the park but I've never seen then bother anyone and it didn't seem like they were hurting anything. Here lately the police have been running everyone out of there.Someone told me they're about to start building something there and that's why they've been doing that but I don't know if that's true or not. Skyline church, I belive that's the name of it. They do a free lunch there every Tuesday afternoon at 11:30 am for the homeless and anyone else that could use a good meal. They usually have free dog food they give away and clothes and shoes for anyone that might need them. Toiletries are always available as well. It has some nice views of the skyline, but no facilities. You can ride your bike for miles and basically see flat land, the river and the interstate. Kinda barren, especially if you go mid-day in the middle of the week. Not a lot of signage. There are homeless tent camps here, but they kept to themselves and didn't pay much attention to anyone else.

And, since this is Oklahoma, it can be very windy. Your bike can feel like you are trying to ride a kite when the wind gusts really get going as there are not many wind breaks. Even on a beautiful sunny day, you may get an un pleasant surprise.
