Watershed Park in Tumwater, Washington, is a picturesque natural area known for its captivating beauty and serene ambiance. This park is renowned for its old-growth forests and enchanting canopied trails that wind through the lush landscape.

The old-growth trees within Watershed Park provide a sense of timelessness and a connection to the region's history. These towering trees create a peaceful and shaded environment that offers respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The dense canopy overhead filters sunlight, creating a dappled and soothing effect as you explore the trails.

The trail is an easy hike for all experience levels, regardless of what kind of shape you're in. However, it is not wheelchair accessible. If you're looking for a waterfront experience, pick another destination. While the trail does stay close to, and at times cross, the creek, it is a small stream, mostly concealed by the brush that grows along it's bank. There aren't any rocky or sunny banks where you can kick back, relax and soak your feet. Definitely not the place to go for access to water or sun. While there is the occasional bench where you can sit down and take in your surroundings, the main attraction here is the occasional, exceptionally large tree you'll see as you hike the trail. Overall, it's a good place to go if you want to take a walk or jog but don't want to have to leave the Olympia...

This is one of Olympia's many special places. Only 15 minutes from home makes it very special quiet place for me. Visiting during off-peak periods is recommended though anytime is a great time to enjoy the spectacular scenery and a variety of birds. One can break away from the crowds and find quiet spots to contemplate and just enjoy the moment with nature all around. The trails and the boardwalks are lovely transcending streams and bogs. There is a short section of the trail with a bit of a steep grade and the entire trail winds up and down a bit throughout. With all the lush green foliage just opening, one can view the various shades of the overhead canopy of leaves. Wild berry blossoms dot the trail as well as a variety of other wildflowers. And too, there are the song birds overhead to ease your...

The Watershed trail loop offers a rejuvenating walk along mostly flat paths through lush green mossy scenery with some old growth trees, giant maples and many young deciduous. Mostly shaded with a few open sunny spots. Quiet for an urban park. Great for small kids and older adults or dogs on leash. Good signage. Can't get lost. In several spots you can see the gurgling stream that was once the source of Olympia's water. Some stairs and wooden bridges take you over fallen trees now feeding a new layer of renewed growth. Two or so short and steep inclines. I saw two benches. Muddy in parts from recent rain but trail is well maintained and wide. The trails can be accessed by a trailhead on the southern side of the park with parking for just a few cars and two pedestrian access points.
