A True Gem in the DoubleTree Family The DoubleTree Hotel in Ontario, California stands out as one of the finest properties in the entire DoubleTree chain. Over the years, they’ve consistently delivered excellence in both service and hospitality—something that doesn’t happen by accident. Much of the credit belongs to longtime General Manager Bassam, who has been at the helm for over 30 years, guiding this hotel with dedication and vision. DoubleTree hotels are known for their ultra-comfortable beds and, of course, those warm, delicious chocolate chip cookies handed out at check-in. I’ve stayed at DoubleTrees around the world, and while many are excellent, this one truly rises above the rest. Conveniently located near Ontario International Airport, the hotel is a favorite for business travelers. The parking lot is a rare treat in today’s world—spacious, with wide stalls that make it easy to park without worrying about dings or tight squeezes. It’s a small detail, but it speaks volumes. The pool and jacuzzi area is set in a beautifully landscaped garden, complete with a tranquil water feature. Many of the rooms overlook this peaceful oasis, making it feel like a true retreat even in the heart of the city. Comfort is the recurring theme here. Whether in your room, the garden, or one of the inviting common areas, the entire property exudes a sense of ease and relaxation. Even when the hotel is bustling, it never feels chaotic. The lobby is large and inviting, with plenty of cozy spots to sit and unwind. The lobby bar is a favorite gathering place, offering a relaxed and welcoming vibe that draws both regulars and newcomers alike. And then there's Misty’s—the hotel’s legendary nightclub. Offering live music seven nights a week for decades, it’s earned its reputation. Calling it “legendary” is no exaggeration. There’s a beautiful stage area, excellent acoustics, warm and balanced sound, and a well-designed lighting system. Misty’s brings in top-tier acts from Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Diego, making it a true entertainment destination. Dining options on-site are also exceptional. There’s a fine steakhouse, a casual restaurant, and a conveniently located Starbucks—all within steps of your room. But the thing that truly sets the DoubleTree Ontario apart is the staff. This hotel is known for its loyalty to employees, and it shows. I’ve been coming here for over 20 years, and I still see familiar faces from way back when. The team is well-trained, genuinely friendly, and clearly enjoys working here—and that positive energy translates directly into a great guest experience. If you’re visiting Ontario, whether for business or pleasure, the DoubleTree should be at the top of your list. It’s not just a place to stay—it’s a place to feel at home.

I’m shocked to see so many reviews above a 1 or 2 star. I’m also shocked that this “hotel” is affiliated with the Hilton name. I’ve been a Hilton Honors member for many years and stay almost exclusively at Hilton hotels. I don’t normally complain publicly, but since I didn’t receive services when I asked for them, maybe a public review is necessary. Overall this hotel room was giving me the vibes of one of those places you rent out by the hour… We had flown in from Atlanta that day, with only a limited time to check in, shower, and get to a wedding venue down the street as the whole reason for our stay was that we were attending a friend’s wedding. Even if we could have switched rooms, there wouldn’t have been enough time for us to do so, and we were later told that the hotel was fully booked that night and the following night so it wasn’t even an option. Immediately I noticed the bathroom ventilation fan wasn’t working. There was urine and (probably also) feces caked on the ceiling because the moisture due to the lack of a functioning ventilation fan had been attracting it over the years (see attached photo). And our room wasn’t the only one- my sister was in the adjoining room where the bathroom fan also wasn’t functioning. Being a CA resident, I know that building code requires a ventilation fan in bathrooms without a window, and there wasn’t a window in this bathroom. Adding insult to injury of the humid shower experience, the tub drain was almost completely clogged. I had to eventually stand in almost a foot of water when my quick shower was done. We also had two different sized bath towels (photo attached). I made the reservation months ago, stating there were 2 persons staying in the room, so 2 regular sized bath towels should’ve been provided. When we called to get an additional bath towel, we were told we needed to come to the front desk to get one. This was an inconvenience, as the front desk was nowhere near our room. I’ve also never had to retrieve additional towels myself when requested. Ever. In all the places I’ve ever stayed. Also, the second bath towel in the room wasn’t on the towel bar, it appeared to have been folded under the sink counter for some time, as dust fluffed off of it when I used it. Because the shower was so humid due to lack of ventilation, I had to dry my hair in the living portion of the room. Totally not a big deal, but as I dried my hair, I saw particles of dust begin to float around the room and actually landed on the white bedspread. Curious as to where the dust came from, I saw that all the surfaces in the room appeared to not have been dusted in quite some time. Later in the night, I received a text from the hotel asking how my stay was. I addressed the concerns regarding the clogged drain, non functioning bathroom fan, and lack of bath towels. The response was to send a technician out, but at this point, we were at a wedding and didn’t want a technician in our room. We just wanted to return to the room later to sleep and return home the next day. Hopefully these issues have been resolved since we left. I’ve never negatively reviewed a hotel before, but all this was worth mentioning. Especially if it encourages the hotel to do better in the future. I’m a “read the reviews” type of person, and had I known I could spend $100 less that night at the motel down the street and received a better experience, I would have done that. I should note that there were a couple of positives. The check in staff was friendly and helpful. I was slightly annoyed I couldn’t go to my room upon arrival especially since I had checked in the day prior to bypass check in by using the digital key as I usually can at a Hilton hotel, but I understood that was their procedure for whatever reason. The bed was comfortable, and the pillows were really great. Overall, I wouldn’t ever stay here again. There are so many other cheaper options where you could get better service. Luckily we got a group rate because of the wedding block, but I’d be even more annoyed had I paid full price.

$15 parking per night, even with gold status. Note that parking may be found on the street just as close as the lot, but use your own judgement on safety and rules for street parking, we decided to pay the fee and park in the hotel lot. I ensured that MyWay benefits included the food and beverage credit, I asked at the front desk upon check-in as well and was assured that since I have Gold status, I would receive the credit after spending money on-site. Upon check-out, also confirmed the credit would apply and was assured it would. I received the receipt later that day with no credit. Called the hotel only to be sent to an extension that no longer exists, then to an India call center where the agent thought I hadn't received my honors points, eventually I got a person at the hotel who said they didn't know why I didn't get it so they transferred me to a supervisor named "Joey" who said Gold honors members don't get the credit. I called the honors desk today and clearly explained that I checked the app before checking in and spoke with the check-in employee and that everything very clearly indicated I would receive the credit and "Cody" responded with "not all hotels provide the credit" then after I recited the Hilton website info to him, he offered 5k points to drop it. When I said no, he said he would create a service request to get my $60 refunded ($15, two nights, two adults). We would not have spent money at the hotel if it hadn't been for the credit (even worse, we specifically chose this hotel over another Hilton nearby because of the credit). As another point, there were upgraded rooms available in the app (same size room, same size beds, same porch, just a pool view instead of a parking lot view, for $30) but the desk said no free upgrades were available. I am curious if anyone has ever actually received a free upgrade from Hilton with Gold status or if that "when available" is code for "never available" They had a shuttle to the ONT airport which started at 4 a.m. and the location was fine, the bar was very busy Friday and Saturday nights. The room (1122) was clean and spacious, possibly more so than normal because it was at the end of the row. This review would have been 4 stars if either the credit applied or if the mistake had been fixed without so much hassle.

The room was hot temperature wise, regardless of adjusting the thermostat. The room smelled very bad, not smoke or cigarette smell but a mildew, sour clothes smell. The ceiling outside of the restroom started to leak moderately. We were heading out for the evening so i was going to let the front desk know once we were headed out. The leak progressed to a gush, i had to place the trash can underneath to contain the brown, nasty water. At that point i ran to the front desk and explained the severity of the leak. They said they’d have have someone come fix it immediately, i went back to my room and at least 20 minutes went by until someone came out to our room. Before someone came out to the room the ceiling tile had already broken in half from the severe water damage. The maintenance staff member saw the severity of the gushing leak and verbally expressed “oh they didn’t say it was this bad. Don’t walk under there because that tile will fall on you. I’ll be right back with a new tile and more towels to dry up the mess.” When the maintenance employee returned we explained we were headed out, he then stated the leak would be fixed and everything would be cleaned up by the time we returned. We returned about 6 hours later, the ceiling tile was fixed but the floor was excessively dirty and disgusting. There were shoe prints in the restroom floor from what i can only assume was maintenance stepping back and forth on the wet floor while fixing the leak. New towels were not brought. We paid for overnight parking but they taped off most of the parking lot and parking spaces for an event that was not happening until Sunday July 30th and we arrived since Thursday July 27th. When i asked a staff member, i was advised to look for open parking that did not have cones or that was not taped off. The parking spaces were not even being used. Practically any stranger off the street could roam the hotel hallways. The side doors did not require the hotel key to open. The doors were unlocked to any by-passer, 24-7. I am glad i was with my husband, i would’ve been terrified to stay there alone or even alone with my children.

My family stayed at this hotel for a family reunion. This isn’t the best place to go for family vacations since there is a club inside the hotel, so just be prepared to see something that you might not want your children to see. There is nothing too inappropriate since there is a lot of security throughout the hotel during the hours that the club is open, but I would suggest that you stay at another hotel if you are traveling with family. During my entire stay, I made sure to request ahead of time that I would like to have my room refreshed, but I guess I must have miscommunicated that to them. They finally did come by to refresh my room only one time, but all they did was give me extra towels. They did not take the towels that I no longer needed, they did not empty the trash, and they did not refresh the bathroom. They have poor internet service. It works, but you will have to wait a few minutes for your devices to connect to wi-fi. My younger cousin and my younger brother brought their PS4 to play video games in the hotel room, and we were never able to connect to wi-fi. When we asked for help from the front desk, we were told that we needed to bring our own router. (Who thinks to bring a router with them?…) While I have this hotel a low rating, there are some good things about the hotel. I thought the outdoor pool area was nice, and I like that they give you free cookies when you check in. There is also a Starbucks conveniently located in the lobby. There is nothing really great about the location other than that it is close to the Ontario International Airport, which is one of the reasons why my family decided to stay here for our family reunion. There are a few food places within walking distance.

The lobby gives a good impression. The desk clerk at check-in was efficient. The restaurant was excellent for breakfast, and the waitress attentive. Unfortunately, the room was not a good experience. I see other guests writing reviews which give the impression that some of the rooms have been updated. I don't have personal knowledge of this. However, our room was definitely in poor condition. I have attached pictures to illustrate. I specifically booked the Parlor Suite because it had a jacuzzi tub for my wife. I expected a pristine room that was 'special'. The first thing that happened was that both entry keys did not work. This took about twenty minutes to resolve before we had the room to ourselves. The room itself looked old. Some of the furniture was worn, one might even say cosmetically damaged in various areas. The general cleanliness of the room was marginal to our standards in crevices and corners. The bathroom had an odd smell. Perhaps worst was the presence of a spider on the ceiling in the bathroom as we entered, with the false ceiling tiles throughout the room displaying various gaps and wear. This was not acceptable, and although the spider was removed by hotel maintenance personnel, and the gentleman said he would notify the front desk, no apology was attempted by hotel management. The manager should have at minimum, called our room and offered an apology. Again, I don't know what other rooms at the hotel are like, but our room was not the pleasant experience we expected. I don't like to be negative, but these discrepancies were hard to ignore.
