I have visited this location multiple times in the past for their events such as the medieval faire, Alice in Wonderland, and holiday festival.

My main focus on this review is going to be regarding the location of Canterbury Village as a wedding venue.

I had the honor to be in a wedding party and I have to say from a wedding venue standpoint this place unfortunately does not come to par, which is very unfortunate as the location for the reception was absolutely stunning. The chapel on the other hand where the ceremony took place was okay but I feel that it could be better.

First off, the location of Canterbury Village is not terrible as it is near some major freeways and not too terribly far from Great Lakes Crossing mall. I do appreciate the fact that it is located in an area where you're not too close to any major traffic congestion or too much noise. So that I do give them credit for, that but I will admit, it can be a difficult location to find for those who have never been there.

The wedding chapel where the ceremony took place looks pretty open, and seats roughly about 100 people maybe just a little bit more than that. The chandeliers look very pretty and the painted stained glass window looks nice as a backdrop. This being said though, this is an old refurbished barn. So you can still see the remnants of the barn ceiling in the chapel, which can be a nice aesthetic if that's something that you're looking for. However, there is an open window that if it's left open, animals can get in ... and we did have an animal enter during the ceremony and shocked a lot of the audience. I feel they need to make sure that these are closed if they were to have more weddings in there and to keep the facility more clean as it was a little dirty. It was also reported that there was dead animals that got trapped inside of the building so I feel that the owners really need to keep that clean, as well as the reception castle which I will review, especially because that can pose a health hazard for the guests. Also, the sound system needs to be checked, as music cut out mid ceremony and we're not entirely sure why.

The reception location in the castle was probably the bigger disappointment overall. The castle itself is absolutely stunning and has historic influences and a beautiful theme with wooden walls, absolutely beautiful staircases, and decor. There's also an absolutely gorgeous chandelier as soon as you enter however the biggest problem with this is more than half of the light bulbs were clearly burned out and it was covered in dust which also poses a health hazard with those severe allergies. The bathrooms were not the most clean that I've seen, and the ceiling tiles were missing which could leave wires exposed, more of a safety concern, and as mentioned, could pose a threat for wild animals to enter into the building .There were parts of the building outside that were broken and falling apart. The main reception hall itself was also very beautiful as well but it was covered in dust in some areas. In other venues that have been to for weddings and big galas, the attention to detail is extraordinary. This includes family-owned places that I have been to where their staff is not significantly large, but again, their care and attention to detail to deliver the best venue for a significant event like a wedding shows a lot of care in the way that the location is managed. Our bridal party had to do some cleaning ourselves such as removing leaves from a wheelchair access ramp. I was also told that the elevator needs maintenence.

I feel the main point that I can leave here is the management, attention to detail, and understanding that the most important people in an event space like this, is your clients and customers. I feel that this location for a wedding venue is a missed opportunity and could easily be making significant money, if the above points were enacted. I was informed the couple also had a very...

I started attending events here and supported these small businesses. Yesterday, I quickly grabbed a ticket for the egg extravaganza weekend for what I thought was tomorrow. Once I purchased the ticket quickly realized it was for Friday and not Saturday. I work Friday afternoons and unable to attend the event. I immediately reached out to them to explain the situation and I recieved a very condescending response back. They attempted to say well it’s kind of like the movies. You are taking up space. To be fair an adult should be included with the price of a child ticket. How is that child gonna get to the event? So are you babysitting all the children? Parents should just drop their kids off? To me it’s double dipping on family’s hard earned money charging the whole family for a ticket when there is no benefit to the adults. Then Canterbury responded with attend on a free weekend…I wanted to enjoy the day with my daughter and grandkids and buy some items I ran out of. These types of events parking is awful. The times are too scattered. You literally need to be there all day if you have kids in different brackets. Although the mistake was mine Canterbury did not offer an validation or resolution. Their response was not good customer service. I will no longer provide support to an establishment who thinks they are entitled. I will drive farther to say frankenmuth and visit other local metaphysical shops in southeast mi! The final blow from this village was the blocking of us from the page on fb after expressing our honest and true experiences and dissatisfaction. Shameful Canterbury! Seriously a matter of time before people realize how much money they steal from you. If ten people buy tickets and each also contributes to parking but only two people drive they literally get free money, if they do not refund money and offer no resolution when things happen. There is a huge gap between age groups ex egg extravaganza 3hour gab between youngest and mid aged child. Blake’s never charges for parking and never sells out of tickets. Some of the items I was wanting to replace now will be purchased from other means what a shame that these little stores have no idea what Canterbury is doing to...

I had my wedding here in December. The chapel and reception hall were beautiful, the workers that helped with break down for the night and for the actual wedding were wonderful and extremely helpful and on top of everything. We had a really had a great night but there is one reason I did not rate this a 5.

We had contact with Angela for our wedding as an event coordinator. She did not help make the process easy for us and was super hard to get into contact with. I believe I had sent her 3-5 emails and only got one response without acknowledgement of my other emails or questions. She only gave us her email, refused to give us her number until the night before, and did not help us in any real way. She was no where to be found for the rehearsal and just told us to do it 15 minutes into our rehearsal. On the day of the wedding, we had the chapel and reception hall booked for our event from 10 am to 12 am (all day) and she brought a couple into the chapel to tour it while we were setting up without at least asking us first if it was okay. Did not block off an entrance on the ramp to the reception hall while we were setting up so we had many people walk into the hall while we were trying to get everything in place. She had failed to inform us that there would be a speaker, blasting christmas music straight at the chapel right when our ceremony started. We had asked for that one specific speaker to be either turned away from the chapel, turned down, or turned off just for 30 minutes. She proceeded to tell us that people paid a lot of money for the music and the event and that she had told us this would be a thing when we had committed to this place for our wedding. She did not tell us music would be blasting, only that people would be in the village, and a christmas event would be taking place... which we were okay with. Impossible to work with and it doesn't help when emails and questions were ignored. We felt like a statistic, not like our day mattered...
