I had one of the worst contractor experience with Dunota Orlando. Our old pool was leaking, so we decided that we will fix the leak through a complete remodeling and modernization of the pool. The contract was signed in May 2024, the work was completed in March 2025, when Duonta told us it would be a 8-10 weeks job. We spend two summers without the pool, but worse, our yard looked like a battle zone for months. They removed the pavers, but then it took several months before the new pavers were installed. And even worse, when the pool was completed, it was leaking in the same place that the old pool was leaking!!!! I talked to the owner, Marcos, who hung up the phone on me because he did not want to take responsibility of the leak unless I paid extra. The owner and upper leadership were incredibly disrespectful every time we contacted them. Workers would come to our house worked for an hour or two and then do not show up for 4-5 weeks to continue the work. They also were destructive, they brought heavy equipment and broke pavers and concrete pathways, created deep channels in the grass areas and the owner told me point blank that that was not their problem, they were only remodeling the pool, and I would have to absorb the cost of all the damage they did to my property. Several times they left a hose filling the pool, but they did not tell us or come later to close the water, so the pool overflowed several times, one of them when we were out of town, so the pool was overflowing in our patio for several days. The only mistake they paid for was when they crash one of our cars with their truck. We had the crash in our security camera, so even though they tried to tell us that they did not crash it, the video was pretty clear. The complete disregard for our property was incredible. Throughout this process, the project manager barely showed up to supervise the workers. The quality of their final work is also questionable, you can see in the images how they installed the new skimmers in the newly resurfaced pool that they did. They also installed wrong the pool finish layer (confirmed by the manufacturer, Peeble Tech), it was all splotchy, with yellow stains and badly distributed the different materials (like poorly blended before applying it) and when we told them, they did not take responsibility and told us we were the ones that damaged it. what has triggered me to write this review is that when they "completed" the pool job and we told them that the pool was leaking, they sent a crew at night! The workers (see pictures) where trying to find and fix the leak using their cell phones lights until I gave them a flood light. what kind of company does that? I told the workers to go and come back the next day during day time and they told me that Marcos, the company owner told them to tell me that if I force them to leave he will not fix the pool because I was rejecting service. Also for the leak, I requested to bring an leak inspector, which they did, but when the inspector come to the house, I asked him to discuss his report/findings with me and he told me that Dunota had told him directly not to share any information about the leak with me. After a serious argument on the phone, Dunota let the leak inspector talk with me and that got me even more upset. The leak came from the kind of grout and sealant that they use. They did not use a water proof sealant, they use regular tile grout to seal around the drains, skimmers, and decorative pieces. This is beyond everything. and then, as I said, they send the crew at night without any lights to fix this. I am appalled at the nerve of Marcos and Leo the project manager as they constantly bullied us in accepting their poor job and constantly put the blame on me of my husband that we did something to the pool to cause the problem. They are a clear example of a contractor abusing the system because they know that as customers, there is very little we can do when they don't perform...
Read moreThis is the WORST pool company on the planet. I already left a bad review about a year and a half ago and Marco begged me to take it down and promised he would fix the problems. He lied! This project started around June of 2022. They built a zero edge pool for us which was a nightmare in itself during the entire process. They busted our gas lines 2 or 3 times and we had to pay to fix that. They also busted our entire sprinkler system and had to pay to fix that as well. They built the pool too low then proceeded to concrete it and put mosaic tiles on it that way. They realized it was too low so they chipped all the mosaic off in a reckless way which then in turn caused glass to go down our moat that was build for the zero edge. After that, they brought bags of concrete and built the pool up to make it high enough. But it still wasn’t done properly. I’m pretty sure that has to be a coding issue but they ensured me that it was fine. They applied the mosaic again but this time none of it was straight and it all looked terrible. Once it became time to marcite the pool, they did it and we waited to fill it up until they gave us the ok. We filled it up and immediately had a leak. Pipes were leaking in my neighbors yard as they laid pipe on their property line. Which reminds me, they also laid thousands of dollars worth of travertine on my neighbors property line as well that had to be removed and ultimately was wasted due to how the pattern of the travertine was. The pool has had problems for years. It keeps leaking a ton. I’m scared my backyard is going to turn into a sink hole. No other pool company will touch it because they messed the engineering up so bad and they don’t want to take liability. I don’t know what to do. We had to move out of our home with our kids because our back yard is so dangerous due to the pool. I feel like this has ruined so much in my life and I regret more than anything ever getting a pool. These aren’t even the only issues. There have been more including a broken heater, our collection tank for the pool has never properly been finished, they stole our left over travertine, the artificial grass around the pool was beautiful to start (the only good thing about the entire project because they outsourced it to a specialist), but then had to remove it all during one of their attempts to repair the pool. They replaced the beautiful grass with a much lower quality of grass and it was never as nice. Now that’s messed up again also due to everything being ripped up again. Marco is so hard to get ahold of. He will start a repair and then ghost you. Now our pump is flooding our neighbors back yard and he’s reading our texts but not responding. My next steps are to call all the news channels and get a lawyer because I don’t want this to happen to anyone else. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. My family and I are completely...
Read moreThe best response and rating is NO response. Devastated. Let me begin by saying it is not my intention to sling mud or insultsl. I am a senior citizen and consider myself well-educated. I was not prepared mentally and emotionally for the renovation and my expectations were too high. My pool renovation began in January 2023 at a cost of $30,000. (I never received my 15% discount as promised. It is not credited on my contract.) The new tile and flagstone retaining wall are beautiful with excellent workmanship. The pavers were installed in one day. The workers' were professional and polite. The midnight blue pebble tech was next. The following day, Leo, my project manager, came to collect my final payment. (I didn't know I had a project manager.) He began filling the pool with water and jugs of acid. The following morning my nightmare began. Nearly 10,000 gallons had leaked from pool. Leaks were ongoing for 77 days. Various leak detectors and companies came during this time. My frustration grew each passing day. My only contact was Luis, my salesman, who continued to take care of the problems. He worked tirelessly. To save yourself time, trouble and headaches, the problems stem from what you are NOT told vs. what you need to know. Clean up. it is your responsibility to clean the cement dust and debris from screen room, windows and railings. This is a major undertaking.
Pool furniture. Put it in garage before the workers begin. If not, it will be thrown in your yard exposed to the dust, dirt, rain, sun, etc. It is your responsibility to clean the furniture and move it back in screen room.
Pool finish. My midnight blue pebble tech has faded to baby blue with white calcium spots. It is your responsibility to know how to take care of finish. Go on Utube and watch video.
Tile. Hours of endless cleaning to remove calcium.
When your frustration level is off the charts, know when to say when, bite the bullet and call in your own pool company to finish the job. You will spend an additional amount of $4,000 for service calls, filters, new equipment, cleanings, etc.
An additional $1,500 is needed to vacuum pavers and tap down and seal. I hired a different company to repair the pavers and received a nice discount,
Water bills will be triple your normal bill and expect nasty letters from the water company,
Don't listen to family, friends, workers etc. who advise you to hire an attorney, file a complaint and/or contact the news station. For me, I just wanted to be done with this company and move on.
I am hopeful the manager of Dunato Pools will be an honorable businessman but more so an honorable gentleman and refund the money due .$4,500.00 It leaves me wondering how many others were charged more. I feel like a good laugh was had at my ignorance. Review your contract...
