Heaven sent!!! š¼šš„°
I'm from Miami but happen to be staying for a while in Lake Mary with family. I have a 3-year-old Holland Lop rabbit who had dental surgery in March and has been battling an infection since. Last night he kept me up with his teeth grinding and hadn't eaten much yesterday so of course I was extremely concerned. I called as soon as they opened and got a response right away. The woman on the other end was very empathetic. They were able to accommodate me for a same-day appointment and even managed to get bunny's records sent over from the vet in Miami.
I was worried about parking when I read it was downtown but it's in the outskirts and they have their own lot. You can tell that they're very clean. They were very punctual. From the moment you walk in you're greeted and everyone is very polite and soft-spoken. They have a sign on the front counter which indicates that if the candles on the counter are lit someone is saying goodbye to their pet and we should be quiet as a courtesy to them. I don't remember the exact wording but that was the gist of it and I think it's beautiful that they do that. I know I'd feel grateful to be somewhere calm and quiet if I were ever in that situation.
We were seen by Bella and Dr. Diaz and both were amazing!!! 𤩠I was provided with some bunny basics 101 documentation, which I knew but still appreciated, and it would be great for first time rabbit owners. They took so much time to calmly ask about his medical history so I didn't feel rushed at all. They explained everything in detail and made sure I understood or they'd go over it again. They switched up his meds and treatment plan which I was happy with because what we've been doing hasn't been working and it's gotten terribly worse. They gave me a diagram so I not only know the dosage I'm supposed to administer but there's an actual life-size picture that marks how much I need to give on a syringe in case I need the visual or the numbers or the syringes become unclear. They let me record so I could show my family how to administer the shot because I knew I wouldn't be able to and Bella explained on the bunny as she did it and then again using a tissue. They also said that if I can't do it or find anyone to do it, I can bring him by and they'll do it for me.
For the first time since I learned of my bunny's dental problems, I finally feel optimistic. I felt the tension leaving my chest and felt such a huge relief that I cried. I struggled tremendously to gather the money I needed for all the expensive procedures in Miami so it's a bit of a relief to know that if something has to get done now, the prices are way more affordable. I had a very difficult past year and couldn't imagine losing my bunny on top of it all.
Their prices are so much more affordable than Miami and the care is so amazing that I'm determined to stay with them and make the drive whenever my bun needs to be seen.
And then, to add to their already amazing services, they're open 12 hours a day which means it's less time I would need to wait in case of a bunny emergency because when it comes to them, you can't take the luxury of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDr.Diaz, technicians, and staff are all amazing. Dr. Diaz saved my cockatiels lifeā¦and more than once! I had tried other vets prior to this one, and none were as experienced in birds. The previous vets I went to seemed to guess on what my birds conditions was and never actually resolved anything. Dr.Diaz on the other hand knew exactly what was going on with my bird right away, and how to fix it. He has a lot of expertise on birds and small animals, and you can see he has a passion for it as well!
Thanks to them my bird got surgery for a cyst that had been on his wing for the past year and a half. Previous vets told me there was nothing I could do about it and if my bird went through surgery he would die. Well, Iām sure that if I went with those vets he would have! Dr. Diaz did a partial wing amputation on my cockatiel to get rid of the feather cyst. And, considering what needed to be done, for a very reasonable price! My cockatiel is now recovering from surgery, each day getting better. Without surgery, the cyst on his wing (which had ruptured and was on a vein) would have released infection into his bloodstream and he would have died in a few months. My cockatiel who is very young (4 yrs) gets to enjoy the rest of his life cyst free, and for that I am eternally grateful.
Dr.Diaz saved his life yet again a month after the surgery, when he had two broken blood feathers causing bleeding on his wing. I called them up and asked them if they would be able to take him in really quick just to pluck the blood feathers as I do not know how to pluck blood feathers and this one looked so severe I could be making it worse. They, even being booked full for two weeks, made room for me as soon as I called. They took my bird in and they plucked the two blood feathers that caused him to bleed, and administered fluids into him to make up for all the blood he had lost. Without them to pluck those blood feathers out, he would have bled out and died. They did this for a VERY reasonable price which I thought was going to be MUCH higher since they had to administer fluids! My cockatiel is now doing great once again, and he owes it all to Dr.Diaz and the amazing staff at Exotic Animal Hospital of Orlando. If you are searching for a vet that has excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable staff and doctors, has good prices, and holds the life of your pet at the greatest value, then Iād say you found it. I donāt know where I would be now if I hadnāt gone to them, but I do know I wouldnāt have my cockatiel still with me. I highly recommend them and there is no better vet than them!
(Here are some photos of before my cockatiels wing amputation surgery, and after my cockatiels wing amputation surgery in recovery. You can see all the new feathers...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUse to be a good Vet back in 2019, now not so much anymore. Here are my reasons.
1.) One of the female vets here is always trying to get you to do extra things such as Xray's for more money. My rabbit has a back foot that she can barely walk on, she cant even jump. The first time i told them about this issue they said she was fine (including Dr. Diaz) i bought up this issue a second time and one of the female Dr's told me i needed to do an Xray which was almost 300 dollars, not only the Xray, but they wanted to put her to sleep for the Xray. I ended up taking my rabbit to another vet who simply checked her bones/foot and stated she has arthritis, which i was already thinking. They quickly put her on meds forever and she's doing much better no more pain. Even this vet stated an Xray and putting her to sleep for it was not necessary.
It is almost impossible to get an appointment these days. They close till 6-8 some days and some how was told they cant make an appointment after 4pm. Yet when i went for my appointment at 4, there were people coming in for their appointments at 5.
The prices here are outrageous. You can find the same good services at other places for half the price or sometimes even, more than half the price. Yes i understand they are exotic vets, but there are other exotic vets who are not this expensive. Quoted me $900 to neuter my male rabbit, i got him neutered at another location for $150 and hes doing great.
Even something as simple as a nail trim, which takes no more than 5 minutes, you need an appointment for. Tried making an appointment for that aswell, told they couldn't till a week. Seriously? for a nail trim? Ive had my rabbits nail trims here and it DOES NOT take that long.
My female rabbit who has arthritis, and other serious health issues was doing terribly at some point. I called this office and they couldn't even take her in although it was a serious emergency and were open till 8pm (i had called at 11am).
In conclusion, Dr Diaz use to be great. This office is now about greed and when things are most convenient for them. I take my rabbits to a vet hospital in winter park now, which are open 7 days of the week till late, and never have issues with getting...
