Howard Performing Arts Center — Attraction in Oronoko Charter Township

The hall is phenomenal and acoustics are great. However, I won’t be returning as an audience member or performer. I drove four hours to attend a recital only to be turned away because of some bogus covid policy that isn’t posted on any website. Strange that I was invited to perform on that very stage three weeks prior, but couldn’t be allowed to attend a performance. Also strange that this hall gets used as a weekly worship space that allows people from outside of the bubble, yet those same people who were there 24 hours ago aren’t welcome to recitals. The inconsistency is sickening. Furthermore, I know that there are exceptions and accommodations that are made frequently so I don’t accept any “we’re just following ‘the rules’” talk. Especially, when there still is nothing online about this “policy” How do you openly invite people to a program in your online advertising and not include the important detail of who may or may not attend?! No acoustics are good enough to warrant the treatment I received as an artist that has performed on the stage and a patron that has supported many programs there. Beautiful concert hall. Glass-fronted foyer, flanked with staircases tucked to the sides for access to the second floor galleries. Easily accessible elevator enclosed in a central column close to the main door.

Inside the concert hall there are three seating styles: standard auditorium seating, individual chairs around the perimeters of each floor, and choir seating behind and above the stage. All are comfortable, with good views.

Excellent acoustics make seating merely a personal preference; a whisper can be heard from anywhere in the hall.

Amazing performance hall on Andrews University campus. I can't thank this university enough for allowing schools of the surrounding counties to use their facility for academic events. The quality of the hall itself is definitely 5star. They have an outstanding staff, audio team, and film crew. The size of the building is big enough to hold well over a few hundred people.
