If you're mobility impaired, proceed with caution. I had my handicapped placard hanging from my rearview mirror at the gate and for parking. Cops did not send us to handicapped parking, we weren't allowed to ask, and there were no signs for it. They were barking orders and sent us to to the furthest parking area away from the fair. You have no idea just how far away they've parked you, and, of course this is after we paid for a car full of people and had excited kids in the car, so we didn't leave, I just suffered, badly, I still am 24 hours later, probably will be for several days, at least. Sometimes the damage is permanent. Later, we saw the handicapped parking, right next to where the rides are. Why weren't we directed there? Why were there no signs? The so call courtesy shuttle is a joke, there are no signs on where to pick it up in the parking area and they just blow right by a crippled woman obviously hobbling very slowly. It wasn't just one, they all did it. I mentioned signage, it sucks. It sucks from the vague signs half way down the entrance drive that will have you changing lanes unnecessarily, to the low visibility parking section signs that you won't see unless you turn around at just the right moment. The information booth? You have to walk to the back of the fairgrounds to find it. They have ATM like machines for buying ride tickets, which makes you think it's going to be streamlined. No. Then you get in line to show your receipt to a human to get wrist bands, like why not wait in line once and get it all done in one go? The music was truly awful, singer was off key most of the time, guitarist was doing his own thing, not sure he was playing the same song as everyone else, and the songs they chose were an insult to country music and everyone with ears, and you couldn't escape it, speakers in every direction. A whole group of cops positioned themselves between the payment window and the pickup window of a food truck, blocking people from getting their food, they knew what they were doing and had that smug "what are you going to do about it?" attitude. The kids burned through the rides they wanted to do in an hour and fifteen minutes, but no complaints on that front. One thing they did really well was the barns. They're spacious, well ventilated, fans for the animals, and VERY clean. This is the only reason I gave it three stars. There are no lights in the parking area at night and no signs to direct you. Good luck. We live in Berrien County, but we won't be going back. La Porte does a better job with disability accomodations and a layout that is easy...
Read moreComing from Florida this is really boring and there's not even alcohol for the adults to have fun too ik it's a youth fair but put a limit on it if you have to but spice it up and let the adults have fun too otherwise we're just there bored as hell, not only that but I'm not really a fan of the animals or rides or activities they have just about the only reason I go is because of the food and even that is super expensive so in my opinion the fair has nothing going for it, not to mention the long lines for food, rides and getting out to go home I shouldn't be getting into fights with people trying to go home and the amount of places that are cash only, drives me crazy, they need to be more card friendly and need to lower prices and the fair needs to stop charging these places so much so they don't have to charge so much and I'm sorry but $9 for a small ice cream is ridiculous, not to mention the bucket of fries are almost $20 and my kids bowls for cereal are bigger than that and seriously add a...
Read moreFairs been great for the past few years. This year it's mid (ok). The majority of the food places are great but are expensive. Rides are fun but the ride company this fair hired isn't the best due to (I FEEL LIKE) them hiring (mostly) rude employees and them also being costly, having very long lines (mainly at nighttime) and not having their rides run for long. Not a huge fan of looking through animal barns and other people's artwork but I do enjoy going through the commercial buildings. Corn Dog place is good but every time it's at the fair it looks more like a tourist attraction not a place to eat because of the long lines that are there. Hopefully the fair is better...
