Our local community sponsors many festivals and events, in this lovely park. In June we volunteered to help with parking, at the Lavender Festival. There were many local vendors and artisans supplying everything from craft lemonade to artistic ways to use lavender. Visitors could sample everything from lavender drinks like hot chocolate, and tea, to cookies and other baked goods. For lunch you had your choice of healthy salads, ice cream or frozen drinks, nachos and Korean corn dogs. The kids love the Korean corn dogs and went back twice for more! There was an excellent band playing, that I never did get the name of. I wish I had because they were wonderful! Vendors included, eclectic types of hand made jewelry, unique dresses, and other clothing, cutting boards, colorful lawn art, air plants, and massaging pillows that felt wonderful after a warm day of directing traffic. Of course, the best part of all was all the lavender, soaps, shampoos, lotions, candles, and my favorite, cooking compounds to add lavender flavor to your baked goods! If you are going to be in Palisade Colorado next year, in June, I highly recommend you attend the lavender Festival at...
Read moreThe greatest dog park! Having said that, please note that if your dog will independently go into the river to swim, this is NOT the place for you. The currents there are dangerous and can unexpectedly drag your dog out and under. Beware. Also, the creek that runs through the mid section has some silty and stinky water that will make you have to scrub your dog afterward. And the canal on the other side is often fast moving, too. Sooo, once you are aware of these geographical issues and you know how to handle your dog for safety, you are good to to go. Disc golf is going on, so keep your dog from stealing frisbees, bring a tennis ball and a chuck-it and it is near-heaven! Expansive places to walk, some historic signs at the end about the migrant farm workers of days gone by, places to sit, muse, etc. We love this area. PS, if your dog is aggressive, find alternate places to go. All the dogs here, for the most part, are friendly and “chill.” It’s pretty here, peaceful, and Palisade! (How’s that for...
Read moreI love this park. The views are amazing, it's clean, and full of nice people doing all sorts of activities. From frisbee golf, dogs and their humans, playgrounds for kiddos, and even some wishing to swim in the river ( I kinda advise against this...the river isn't terribly sanitary) there is much to do here. There is also some educational boards along the pathway giving some history of the area and other information. There are restrooms, ample parking, covered picnic tables for outings, a few areas for loading onto the river and a few benches a long the river to take in the vistas. You really...
