Rattlesnake Island — Attraction in Palm Coast

Very cool lil island to walk around on and in if … tide low enough to access. If not you could get stranded if traveling by foot. Definitely a great spot to kayak. You can reach Mantanzas Fort walking along east shoreline but ONLY at low tide. However there’s no designated path. Seems like there is a lot of erosion going on the east side many older palms are dying out due to root exposure / salt water inundation. People are ruining it... When i was a kid and my dad and grandfather and uncles use to bring me there, it use to have so many trees. People are cutting them up for fire wood because they are to lazy to bring their own. The trees that are by the boat ramp use to be thick. Now they are thin. You used to have privacy between the parking spots. Now people come there to smoke crack and shoot up... Really sad. Wanted my kids to be able to enjoy it and their kids. Won't be much left. Not much to do here besides walk around, see the crabs on the sand, or fish. A lot of people who come here fish or kayak. The drive to the parking lot is rough, road is bumpy. The water surrounding the island is calm and there is a sand bar, so if you want to go in the water you can walk to the middle part.
