HP Inc. Review – Frustrating Experience with Instant Ink and Customer Support
If I could give HP negative stars, I would. This has been one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with.
I've been a loyal HP printer user since the 1990s, and my last purchase was the HP Envy Photo 7155 in late 2020. I initially subscribed to HP's Instant Ink program, which automatically sent new cartridges when my ink ran low. Later, I added their 500-sheet paper subscription, which seemed convenient—until everything started falling apart.
By 2024, I began experiencing major issues with my printer. It falsely reported paper jams, claimed my official HP ink cartridges were "not authentic," and repeatedly failed to communicate with the ink. After multiple frustrating support calls and long waits for replacement cartridges, I finally canceled my Instant Ink subscription in January 2025 and installed brand-new HP-branded cartridges from Best Buy. Yet, the printer still refused to recognize them.
HP's solution? Buy more ink—despite the fact that my barely used cartridges were already failing. Their customer support was slow, unhelpful, and frustrating. After waiting nearly an hour for assistance, I gave up and decided to try their new $8.99/month subscription, which includes a new printer, ink, and paper. But within two minutes of placing the order, I realized my mistake and tried to cancel. HP claimed it was already being shipped and refused to cancel, forcing me to wait for delivery just to return it.
HP has seriously gone downhill. Their AI-based support system is useless, making it nearly impossible to get real help. While the concept of an ink subscription based on usage isn't terrible, their execution and support make it a nightmare. I’m...
Read moreI was very frustrated with the customer service online due to chat response times and the amount of time it took to resolve the issue.
I could have sworn I had a bad part on my motherboard. The agent on the phone (I think his name was Thomas) was more than patient with me. He sent out another adapter since mine wasn't getting the laptop to charge.
Turns out it probably was the adapter because the new adapter is charging my laptop.
I wish someone would have taken the time to explain what was going on. I have a functioning computer now and I'm grateful I didn't have to wait for this one to be repaired. Thank you HP for your patience and for...
Read moreI try to install one of their super overpriced ink cartridges in my printer, and is says it cant read them and I should install some new ones. So, since your machine cant read your cartridges, the solution is to pay for more cartridges. Such a deal - for you. There is no guarantee that it will deliver a different result, but it is good...
