I have had the best experiences free diving here along the coast of LA so far. Vibrant marine life, dense kelp forests, and a 50' depth that persists for about 300' from the beach, which is perfect diving conditions. It gets chilly and has lots of current, so experienced swimmers with solid skin gear are recommended. Visibility ranges from 10'-30'. Street parking, dirt hike down, and a few 10' slides on rocky terrain gets you at the north end beach away from the surfers.
