Really Great Hike; Super busy trail.
A lot of hikers unfortunately lacked trail ediquitte during our hike today. Seemed unusual, but the trail was packed. At some of the bottlenecks, particularly the rock wall behind the falls, people were not patently awaiting others & alternating going through. It was a really frustrating demonstration of a complete unawareness of some of others. Sorry for venting, I just was completely disgusted by one near retirement aged couple with they're hiking sticks who showed complete disregard for everyone around them. They pushed right through a group with elderly people and small kids to go down, & then quickly turned around & pushed through everyone again to get up. They bumped into a few & made ithers off balance because if their complete disregard.
The hike itself was great. Good shade. Easy access. Beautiful falls. Relaxing atmosphere. Some people just shouldn't be allowed...
Read moreI love this hike each time I do it. It seems to be great in every season. It is short and relatively easy. With that being said, this is NOT a walk in the park. Every time I go I see people struggling, falling, turning back, and seriously winded. My mother-in-law nearly had an anxiety attack when I tried to take her on this hike in March. And after that time I started paying closer attention to all the people struggling and turning back. Wear proper shoes and bring a change of socks, if you climb the falls, which are very slippery, your shoes will get soaked.
Climbing the falls to get inside requires some skill and agility, especially during certain seasonal conditions.
You can still enjoy this hike without climbing into the falls. But please keep in mind that if you are struggling hiking toward donut falls, the hike back is more difficult because you are going downhill. You need to be sure footed, or have...
Read moreWe hiked this on a Saturday in July around 11. The hike wasn't too difficult and much of it was shaded. There is one small portion of the hike about midway through where you need to do a little rock climbing. Once you get to the falls, if you decide to pass the signs to go further up into the falls, there is more climbing involved. Beautiful falls at the end. Parking was a bit of a disaster because there are so few spaces. There are bathrooms at the beginning of the hike. Wear shoes that you can get wet. You can't really get all the way to the falls without fully immersing your shoes into the ice cold river water. It is a popular trail. I wouldn't expect a quiet hike or to be able to fake photos of the falls free of...
