Nice place to walk. Many events throughout the yr. Free Family Events- just buy food & drinks etc. Christmas Winter Wonderland & Summer Concerts on Thurs nights & Tues. Nights Kids Songs or Pupper Show or Magic Show. Has a BBQ area for a fee - must get during the week at office ahead of time. Call Parks & Rec. Dept. or go there in person. Has Daggert Farm with some Farm Animals & possibly still has horse rides. Gift/ Garden Shop- which runs programs as well. 2 Playgrounds- one for tots & 1 for bigger kids. 2 consession stands. 1 has hot foods, drinks & misc. & 1 has ice cream- I think- it's been a while since I have been to those- so don't quote me. Restrooms near the food. There is an Old Carousel Still Running during weekends in Warmer months & during Special Events in Colder ones. Very cheap- 25 or 50 cents to ride. Used to accept can goods for food bank- at certain times. Don't know if they do that anymore. *Get The Valley Breeze- Free Paper- it lists all the Events of the Blackstone Valley & has many versions based on where you live/covers many town combinations). Behind that is A Full Dog Park. The Park has a Pond w/ Water Sprays & a Gazebol across from the Carousel-Very Pretty & a few benches in front & walking paths around it, with an Art Gallery right there- not sure of open hrs.; but they are usually open during Seasonal Events. Lg. Plenty of open areas/ & grounds for playing, flying kites & just lounging, & other paths & bridges running through. There are One Way Roads to certain pkg. lots & they have Several pkg. lots to park at. A back entrance off of Armistice Blvd. w/Tennis Courts & a small field on the other side. Some Pavilions they set up for Music during the Pawtucket Arts Festival Events in Summer & at Christmas. A baseball field at the Newport Ave. entrance. If you go straight through- on the left is the Playground & Dog Officer/ Pound. Then the Basketball Court & the Bike & Walking Path straight ahead at the curve. On the left are the picnic tables & BBQ spots & on the right some water running through. If you go up the Hill to the left at the stop sign you can go down the hill or go to the left & be at the Daggert Farm & Rest Rooms/ Consession Stands & Playgrounds. You can walk through...

I hadn't been to Slater Park in about 20 years, but decided that my dog and I needed a new place to walk. My neighbor suggested Slater.

I was VERY pleased, and so was my dog! I need to use a Rollater when I walk long distances, so I need to find places with paved paths. Slater has several.

I don't take my dog to dog parks anymore, (he's been attacked twice by "friendly" dogs, so no more dog parks for him) so I can't rate that feature. But, I love the pond, the bike trails, and the shops. I also like the fact I can grab a bite to eat, and have a "real" restroom, should I need it. I'll definitely be back! The grounds are well kept, and there seems to be lots of things to take advantage of while there. Beware the pond area, if you want to avoid goose droppings! They're everywhere. There are geese, ducks and a beautiful swan. NO FEEDING the water fowl!

The picnic areas are well kept, and have several large trash barrels, that, somehow, people seem to miss. Leaving a mess around is an insult to everyone there, especially the ground's keepers. So, just a reminder to pick up your trash and dispose of it properly.

A big thank you to the ground's keepers for keeping the park as...

Unnecessary suspicion! We go this park quite a bit. I am the mother of a teenager who has autism. Today, July 13, at around 12:00, we returned from a visit to the Watercolor Museum which is awesome! Although we went to the restrooms prior to going to the museum, my daughter had to go again.

As I waited outside of the stall, for my daughter to do what she had to do, a woman from the restaurant next door came in. To be very honest, she looked as if she was pretending to use the bathroom. Once my daughter finished, she went to wash her hands and the woman came out, and stood by the second sink watching my daughter. I assumed that perhaps the other sink was broken, but it wasn't because she went ahead and used the second sink.

To be very honest, I think she was baffled by the difference in our complexions; my daughter is very light with light eyes and I am bronzed. I also think she may have been triggered because my camera was still hanging around my neck? I don't know, but I think she was assuming the worst and all she found was a mother waiting for her daughter to use the bathroom. I guess suspicion is to be expected, given the area in which...

I have been coming here since I was a kid and my fur kid LOVES it here. There are so many nice and safe places to walk all around the park so I frequent here often with the pups. I love the 10 mile river walk and bike path they have in the park and Leia loves the side trails surrounding it. We try to stick to those trails because they are so peaceful and comforting but when we're in a rush, we usually stick to the dog park or to doing loops in and around the park. There are many things to do here but the trails by far, are my favorite and you can easily access them on the bike path. On a side note, I love the old school carousel when she's up and running. I even go on rides as an adult because it reminds me of the good moments I had as a child at this park. My favorite animal to ride is the dog of course! Stop into the mini zoo they have as well with the goats and Guinea hens, it's adorable to see the kiddos reactions to the animals and it may just make you happy to see them as well.
