The park itself is a shady playground and small space for picnics, but it's also home to the trailhead for the Pennington Loop Trail, which will bring you to Baldwin Lake, managed by State Wildlife. It's a bit of a challenge to get across Stony Brook Creek, but if you're brave there's a log footbridge you can use, and if it hasn't rained in a bit you may be able to walk across on rocks without getting wet. It's a beautiful, quiet walk with well maintained trails, but FYI, once you get to the lake it's a bit overgrown alongside it, with no benches or anywhere to sit. Read moreWe used this trailhead to walk back to Baldwin Lake. The lake is public on one side and private on the other side. The only wildlife in the lake were geese, so that was disappointing.
The walk itself was nice, but you have to cross a creek and the only ways to do so is via a three log bridge, with no rails or through the water itself. We crossed the bridge, but the round logs made it feel a little uneasy.
There is a free library and a playground for kids. The parking lot is small and narrow, but you can park on the road if needed. It was quiet and peaceful in the woods and back by the lake...
