When weighed against the other parks in the Austin Metro, Pville skatepark is about an 8.7 out of 10. I've spent many hours there and there are 3 minor downsides to skating here at certain times of year.
1: Its located near a trash plant and the air carries an odor occasionally (you get used to it though but at first its a lil jarring)
2: Frequently the park becomes 1 directional due to heavy wind, which can be a positive for hitting massive new stuff in one direction but makes going back and forth a lil harder.
3: Towards summer and fall the junebugs take over. Nowhere near as bad as Brush creek skatepark but enough be a little bit irritating.
Positives: 2nd biggest skatepark in Texas Very nice flow and variety of obstacles for variety of skill levels Park is shared amongst all age ranges and sports types. (You will see BMX's shredding the bowls and some of the tabletop obstacles)
What to be aware of: Parents: Everyone is friendly here that I have encountered and always down to lend a helping hand. Keep an eye on your kids as far as the direction they are choosing to go. People are generally moving faster at this skatepark when compared to others in Austin. You can more easily recognize the traffic patterns of the park so help them learn that so they don't get hurt. (I broke my pinky in half when a kid rolled behind me while I was landing fakie)
Water and Bathrooms: There are water fountains but you should bring some of your own just in case and the bathrooms are public and open
Seating: There is covered bleacher seating for spectator style viewing and covered seating on the turf in the middle island of the park. If you are a parent bringing a young child you should be able to monitor your child actively no matter where they are...
Read moreThey don't clean the restroom near the skatepark to the point where you are nauseous about 20 feet away. They don't open the gate closest to the skatepark even though it's a single lock on a gate that would save you a five to ten minute drive and keep you from getting stuck in with the soccer game or baseball games letting out. The park attendants have come up and yelled at everyone to get out of the public park ten minutes before they close. Pflugerville cops randomly happened to come to check out the skatepark during a competition in a PUBLIC PARK. I don't know what they have against the skatepark. Maybe they hate scooters and BMX and skateboarding.
It's fairly well designed although many beginning friendly obstacles seems awkwardly placed next to something you could fall into and die... Here's a curved curb with no run up next to a 12 foot drop. Here's a little ledge you have to ollie off a six foot bank onto then somehow get back in. Yeah the clamshell hip thing has no back and you might fall 10 feet or if you come back in you might be pointing directly into the bowl/pool. Oh that flatbar. Yeah have fun doing an ollie up a bank three feet out and not snapping your board.
Anyway, the banks are fun, the bowls are nice the street area is not super beginner friendly but it has some interesting things nowhere else does.
Pflugerville your park people neglect or purposely make worse what should be one of the nicest parks in the area and it's a...
Read moreThis skatepark is pretty awesome. I take my 4 year old and we go and skate and play around on the other parks around the area also after skating. This skate park is in a state park that has a variety of things like soccer fields, basket ball goals, kids splash pad (right next to skate park). The obstacles go from beginner to advanced and the park staff are very nice. Everyone in the park is very nice and friendly as we are all the same kind no matter the younger kids and adults. Just pick up your trash and don’t vandalize...
