Need to work on actual accessibility, just ramp to the building is not enough. My wheelchair was not able to go over the thresholds of rooms because they are unnecessary complicated, raised molding upon molding. Just get a proper smooth threshold from home depot. It is not that hard or expensive. The toilet is also not accessible as the threshold again was a raised wooden molding and not a real threshold.Thank god I am ambulatory user and could get up and my husband had to wait outside with the wheelchair. If I could not use my legs at all I could not use the bathroom or move between the rooms. Even then, hopping to the toilet on one leg is extremely dangerous.

Regarding the art, well, it is very interesting and a mixture of classical and contemporary works. We enjoyed pondering the art. But the museum was only partially open and we were looking forward to all the artwork based on the photos in...

The Woodmere Art Museum in Philadelphia is a delightful sanctuary for art lovers, nestled in the charming Chestnut Hill neighborhood. This museum is dedicated to showcasing the art and artists of the Delaware Valley, with a collection that includes everything from paintings and prints to sculptures and photographs. What a lovely little museum! First, a wonderful collection of sculpture in a walkable trail outside the museum. The museum is situated on a beautiful Estate with mature trees and rolling hills. The building itself is an old mansion transformed into a museum of art with small galleries with older art painted by local artists of past centuries and larger galleries with more modern works from artists nearby and including a huge gallery space with a balcony loft. The museum features new works and collections that are put on display for short periods of time, so there is always something different to see. There is also a wonderful museum gift shop featuring work from local artists and craftsmen. The museum accepts...

My visit to Woodmere Art Museum was amazing. Each and every piece of art on display is from a Philadelphia based artist, which gives it that special edge and extra authenticity. There were pieces and exhibitions representing the many facets of Philadelphia, and pieces ranging from abstract sculptures, watercolour, acrylic paintings, charcoal drawings… Each with its on unique story. The Art Museum was originally the home of the founder Charles Knox Smith, and even after its numerous expansions and extensions, the original house still remains (with some of its furniture e.g. a gorgeous chandelier) and houses most of the more historic art pieces.
