I've been going to Chestnut Hill emergency room for years now at one time this emergency room was a good emergency department to go to you never was in a waiting room for 5 hours and more or treated with disrespect I was just here at this emergency department on February 11th I was in a lot of pain to the point that I wanted to cry and I couldn't take the pain but I'm a patienc person because I work in healthcare myself so I understand healthcare workers I understand burnout. I get it but on this day when I first walked into the emergency department I noticed that they have metal detectors now and the security guard said because people were acting out of control in there which I really appreciate them doing that that's really good to keep sick people safe but first I want to say the oder smacks you in the face when you walk in u smell urine all through that department. So not all the nurses but some of the nurses there really need to go back to school and learn how to treat people. We need your help for care. whateve happened to autonomy, beneficence, Justice, empathy!!! when it comes to your pts. These nurses now do not care they look at you as a number and not a human. The nurses don't act like they used too. The nurse violated HIPAA law. the nurse that night yelled out my lab results in front of the security guard. I asked the security guard if he can step away and she said no The reason the security guard was standing by because the worker that took my vitals and blood wouldn't tell me her position when I ask her. She called the security guard on me because she was upset i ask was she a nurse. I wanted to know if she could look at my labs she drew. She got upset smh.I just wanted to know what was my labs. She told me that she can't give me my lab results so I asked her is she a nurse and she said I don't have to tell you what I am I don't have to give you my identity. I didn't ask her name I asked was she a nurse smh. The reason asked if she was a nurse she can read my lab results or she could have just got someone that can do it. she tells me to go on the portal if I want to know my lab results SMH. I cant interpret my own results. So she directed me to go to the triage nurse and ask her so that's where I stood at and wait until someone come out the room. she really got upset because she overheard me talking about her to my mother on the phone. I was telling my mom how nasty she was and, she was giving me attitude. The worker or Aide idk what to call her, she overheard me and went and got the security guard, the security guard came over to me but he was nice and respectful he was not aggressive at all just asking me how can he help. The nurse came out and I explained to her what happened she told me that that her coworker does not have to tell me her identity because that's the law. Ugh they have the law all messed up. you have to tell me what's your position because you're the one caring for me. I did not ask for your LAST name. so this identity bs makes no sense to me at all. The nurse continued to go do her job and give me the lab results, I wanted the security guard to walk away until I get my results.I was not a threat to anyone the video cameras in there can see that I was standing there quiet just waiting for help.I was in too much pain to be a threatening person. I was not aggressive at all.. I was in way too much pain. The nurse gives me my labs in front of the security guard anyway. She didnt want him to step away for some reason. Unprofessional. The next day I called the aministrator and left a voicemail to make a complaint about these two females and I still never heard nothing back. it's so sad to be treated like that when you're sick and before I left I told the nurse that she needs to treat sick people better we're there for help. I said you have a nasty attitude and you need to treat people with empathy. Attitudes and the way they treat ppl is so sad. And the lies they told about Identity. And number 1 HIPAA violation of My health records. Pathetic and...

I came here last night around 9:30 with chest discomfort and I was having a panic attack. I was evaluated by the in-take nurse (didn't get her name) who calmly did my blood pressure and pulse and asked what I was feeling and reassured me that everything would be ok. I was taken back where I met Mike my ER technician who asked me why I was here and hooked me up to the monitors and calmly did an EKG. He said my heart rate was high and I said I was scared and knew I would have to get blood drawn and that I was afraid of needles and he said everything would be fine and hooked me up to a heart monitor. When the monitor started going off a few minutes later I started panicking but he came in and turned off the alarm and reassured me that everything was fine that I just needed to try and relax. Next Dr. Chan came in and talked with me and after I explained the situation she said that she was going to do a blood test and test for absolutely everything just so that I got some peace of mind if it turned out to just be a panic attack. I told her I was afraid of needles and requested the smallest needled and most gentle nurse on staff and she laughed and said she would see who she could find. Next I met Jackie who was very cheerful and reassured me that everything would be fine and showed me her tiny needle and said she would try to get it done in one stick. She had to go in through the back of my hand which was very painful but she kindly apologized for the discomfort and was talking me through it and was letting me joke with her to keep my mind off of everything. She left and said I would get the results in about an hour and at this point I had probably only been there for 45-50 mins so it was all very quick service but very high quality and you could tell that everyone knew what they were doing and even though I was not exactly calm they all had a very calming demeanor to help me relax. A guy name Tavon came in to verify my patient information and have me sign some papers and he was very nice and we talked for a few mins which helped calm me down a bit more and told my girlfriend and I he hopes everything goes well and that we get to leave soon. Jackie came back in to check on me about 30 mins later and checked my blood pressure again and asked if I felt any different or needed anything and I said no but that I really appreciated her kindness and understanding earlier and that she had been wonderful during the entire process. She said thanks and that Dr. Chan should be back within 30-35 mins with my results. Finally within about 25 mins Dr. Chan came in with a cheerful smile on her face and said " just like I thought, your tests couldn't have been more perfect." she then walked me through what they tested what each of the tests look for and why the numbers for my test were good and well within the normal range. She allowed me to ask her several questions including me making her reassure me that I was fine about 5 more times. She then asked me about my history with anxiety and if I had considered seeing someone to help deal with that problem. After we had discussed everything Jackie came back in and took all my monitors off and told me she was very glad I was feeling better and could tell from seeing me that I was more calm. I thanked her and went back home at around 11:45. Everyone did an amazing job but most importantly they listened and were attentive to what I said and never doubted what I was experiencing and were incredibly kind and calming during a time where my mind wouldn't let me be. I am so thankful for the people who helped...

My mothers prior experience coming here was exceptional because she was brought in by fire rescue for a tachycardia (SVT)with a heart rate in the 160-170s which couldn’t be ignored. The treatment was good. For this visit my mother was recommended to the ER for a septic toe by her podiatrist. Upon entering the ER she was asked to fill out a paper and waited a lil over 30 minutes to be seen by a triage nurse. I’m a former ER nurse and the initiation of treatment firsts starts with the chief complaint and an eyeball assessment which no one asked about her complaint. Now what if a person comes in with stroke like symptoms, possible sepsis, or chest pain with an actual diagnosis of that problem; 30 plus minutes of crucial time has pass where treatment has not been initiated which-leads to severe outcomes for patients and possible death. They really need to re think their triage process and have patients report their complaint to an actual healthcare worker instead of writing it on paper piled up on other sheets of other patients complaints. My mom is stable and probably only needs an ESI score of of either 4 or 3. Maybe I’m just wrong and it was a bad evening with short staffing but patients CC should be first stated to an actual person and not written down on paper just my take. Another suggestion is maybe get their actual compliant first and then have them fill out the paper so we they don’t delay care which might need immediate attention. 05/13/22 Just an update. The care was exceptional. The nurses were very pleasant and attentive. I do wish the ER docs will come in more often but I know they are busy. The attending team/hospitalist were attentive after she was admitted and continued to talk to my mother about the plan of care. I do wish that their triage process was a lil better. Hopefully that wAs just a one time thing. Also expect a wait when you come to the ER. The reason why you are sitting is because someone is critical or actively dying. If you aren’t in any real respiratory distress, can walk, talk, drink, and eat. You can...
