I was in town with my son on vacation and we a had free day between three rounds of golf, and were looking for some alternative fun. There were several karting options in the Phoenix area, but we opted for this experience due to it's location, the fact that there is an K1 in Birmingham AL, and the prices were reasonable. It was not busy, it was also a Thursday at 1230, and we walked right in, filled out the appropriate paperwork, and we were on the track in under 20 minutes. The karts are faster than I expected. I was getting a workout putting the kart through the many turns and really enjoyed myself. The staff is great, they are very friendly, explained everything about the kart, the flags, the safety process, and the monitoring of each race. They maintain control of the individual karts and can cut everyone's throttles at the push of a button if there is a safety issue. They monitor your etiquette but allow you to race. A little inadvertent bumping is acceptable, but if you're out of control or intentionally crashing, off you go. It was a great experience overall, we had to take breaks between races, if you get tired of racing but have prepaid for multiple races, you can save them or use them at all K1 locations.

I recently visited K1 Speed Go Karting in Phoenix and had a mixed experience. The facilities were immaculate and everything was super clean, which was a big plus. The staff was very nice and friendly, although they seemed extremely frazzled and appeared to be run by teens and young adults. We were initially braced for a 30-minute wait, so we decided to play some arcade games. Unfortunately, when we went to redeem our prizes, the card indicated we had won no tickets. We ended up waiting over an hour for the first of the three rides we had paid for. After that, we waited another 30 minutes before deciding to get a refund. Getting the refund was another ordeal, involving a 15-minute wait in line, followed by another 15 minutes waiting for the manager. Despite these issues, the manager was cool and understanding, and the one race we did get to do was actually really fun. Overall, the concept is nice and the employees are friendly, but the efficiency definitely needs improvement. I noticed another customer also walked out upset and angry. I would rate the experience a 7, mainly because of the enjoyable race and the understanding manager.

The service is horrible, the black chick that have lace wig (Soriah D.) was the rudest in the food lounge. We ordered loaded potatoes and even pay extra for a slice of bacon, and they took 40 min to make them, and I have to ask for the bacon and the guacamole, which they didn't put on the fries until I have to go back and ask for them . They run out of guacamole and didn't put any at all. The sign says includes guacamole. The meth mouth cashier complained because we asked for XL shirt and she heard L, when we noticed she gave us the wrong size, she went full crazy attitude. I mentioned it to the manager, who looks like a mexican Toretto, which is nice to have someone that looks like it in a race place. He make it up for her and offered an apology, as well for the fries incident. Fernanda, the manager, and the employees on the track are the only ones who know how to treat people there. The race experience is great and the employees in that area do a good job with your safety. You can see your time and they print your race results. You may want to book ahead so you don't have to wait for 2 hrs on a Saturday.

Haven't been back since they were still at their last location. Today I finally experienced that after anticipating the new track layout. It was said to have two, but one is actually for JR racers. JR track has more straights and main track is mostly tight turns. The main layout compared to the last one has some left to be desired. I'm primarily talking about the upkeep off the floor. It is ROUGH towards the start, right before the first hairpin turn. I did 4 races (each in a different kart) and got to compare the floor defects between them all. The last race had the worst of it. It might actually have been the last kart I used, but really...these karts are all built the same and not that old. But, if you look at the floor of the track, you can clearly see all the defects. I asked before I left how often they maintain the floors and they claim to be getting a Zamboni in the near future to smooth it out. Sounds promising. But that immediately tells me they haven't been at this point. It'll be quite bumpy, lots of wheel hop, and if you tend to get motion sick, I'd turn away.

On another note, staff was very chill and did their jobs well. Rules are clearly explained for newcomers.

The place seems a bit smaller than the last one. Though, they have some new additions such as an arcade, billiards table, more seating, and a more expansive food bar. I can't speak for how much you can get for your dollar with all of it, but the food itself is definitely expensive just looking at the menu. There are day-specific deals throughout the week for different aspects of the facility, whether it be discounted food, game/race bundles, BOGO, and chances to get free races.

My experience with wait times this time around was far better than in the past. Let me just say though I had came in within an hour of them opening on a Monday. First race was by myself and was very nice. Immediately got into my second with a couple others. I could've also immediately got into my third, but I chose to wait that one out. Again, the defects in the track floor can and will take a toll on you. My last race was, again, by myself. So early afternoons during the week seem to be most promising if you want a peaceful time.

All and all, it was an ok experience this time around at the new facility. I think I prefer the track from the last one, but everything else does seem to be better. Results are sent to you via email immediately after each race is finished. I do miss the days of having the results on paper. They had things more clearly laid out and it was nice being able to collect them in a folder for easier reflection when needed. The change won't be a big deal for most though. If the track floor was smooth, I would've given an extra star. But this is not a place to expect a lot of bang for the buck either. None of these kinds of places are like that anymore. I can't say I'll be coming back, but to each their own.

If you're looking for entertainment for the family or some friends, give this place a shot. Just be warned about the quality...

9/7/ 2020 Labor Day...the place was well kept at a cool temperature for a summer indoor activity which should be expected from any decent business catering to customers. It had a nice appeal inside and the facilities had a good atmosphere.

Reason for the 1 rating

Per the high pricing. The helmets smelled nasty. Not much else to say about it... It was very gross!

There was no structure to how people got their turn with the karts, some customers were forced to wait two hours plus before they could ride for the first time, while others didn't wait too long to take multiple turns racing (not sure if this had to do with the staff catering to ony larger groups as seen on other negative reviews). This led to multiple complaints... you could see a lot of customers confused or upset and asking the staff for an explanation. I was seating close to the racers staging area and I could see the staff constantly dealing with angry customers. Also inside where the front desk was located, the front desk staff never provided a consistent explanation on how they prioritized the list of racers.

After spending over $100 for two riders and waiting 4.5 hours to take 2 turns this was a total disappointment. I will admit that due to the holiday the place must of been busier than usual, however the way the staff was communicating customers on the wait time was completely unacceptable and just not worth it.

It was also evident that there was no Senior Management running the place. There was an employee on what it appeared to be his day off, riding every race with customers. I assumed he was an employee because he was using the business tools (clipboards and the cellphone looking device that controlled the Karts), he was walking around the track and directing some of the customers while not wearing the black uniform the other employees had on. This guy was aggressively racing, "definitely going faster than the other racers" (it almost appeared as if his Kart was tuned to go faster? Can't be sure), but in attempting to pass other racers, this guy spun at least 3 Karts on the tight corner right before the tunnel, however he was never kicked out during any of his "consecutive" races. If this kid was an employee there was absolutely no valid reason for him to be doing what he was doing during business hours, which is a further insult to all the customers waiting their turn for hours while jeopardizing people's safety. The staff there didn't seem to care... He was also not consistently wearing a face mask while walking around the track or when casually talking to the staff 1 on 1. This was very bizarre...

Lastly the location of this business is definitely not appealing. I liked the inside look of the facilities, but unfortunately they are located on a back alley of a nasty looking business park in Phoenix, definitely not a family area... I am never...

My husband and I were vacationing and decided to come here. We had a blast! I’ve been to Octane Raceway in Scottsdale back in 2017, so we thought we would try K1 Speed. I can’t remember Octane that well, but I did like how Octane Raceway did seem to have a bigger track and it does go outside for a part of it. But K1 still has a fun and curvy track! From what I researched, K1 Speed and Octane Raceway are the only go kart tracks within the Phoenix area. Both are great! Prices are relatively the same for the races whether you go to K1 or Octane. As far as food goes and how good it is, not too sure since we didn’t grab a bite there. We didn’t do a reservation or anything, we just showed up. It was about a 4 hour wait. We paid for 2 races, and the $7 annual membership that you have to pay for as well. It was around $105 for the 2 of us, and we received a head sock (color of our choice: black, blue, pink, or white) with that price as well. If you want to wait there, you can play pool, or sit in a massage chair or grab a bite. We came back after a while and they got us in pretty quick. We had our first race at 6:30pm and the next at 7pm. The track is fun, the karts are fast, and the curves/turns are awesome! Each race is 12 laps and they last about 5-6 minutes long. I like the fact that they separate juniors from adults, so if you bring your kiddos don’t worry about them being accidentally bumped around, they will race with the junior group. One thing Octane Raceway doesn’t do is allow shorter juniors to race. At K1 they just have to be above 48”, so 4ft. Which works perfect because our 2 oldest aren’t the tallest for their ages but they will be able to drive when we bring them, unlike Octane Raceway where they have to be 4’6” or higher. I also did like how at the end of the race you get a paper showing your results, fastest laps, etc. My only major complaint was how dirty the bathrooms were! That is why I’m giving a 4 star. I understand they were busy being a Sunday and all, but there was dried pee on both of the toilet seats in the women’s, toilet paper everywhere, it was just NOT clean. My husband said the men’s was just as bad. That is one thing they could work on. Whenever we come back, I hope they have their bathrooms cleaned better than what I saw. Other than that, it was a great experience...
