Aug 2025 - I wish I could rate the Lakeview Course higher, but it was struggling during my visit. First, as a single, it was easy to walk in without a reservation and be joined to an existing group. However, I found it odd that I was given a group to join (an hour after I arrived) but went to the first tee 20 min early and they joined me with another single sandwiched between foursomes on either side. Were they going to let a single go out by themself? The pro shop is very neat and well stocked and looked like what you would expect of a resort course. The electric carts had good power, the driving range was quite a ways from the club house and even longer to the Lakeview first tee. Bucket of balls (about 40) $11 might have been expected. Now to the course. While the Lakeview course was a nice layout you have your choice of playing from the short tees, the very short tees and the extremely short tees. Leave your driver in the bag for a lot of the holes and if you cannot see the green, play it safe and short. Its typically 200 yards off the tee box and a wedge into the green on a lot of holes and I don't remember even seeing a lake until about hole #8?? Unfortunately Lakeview course was doing some sort of verticut or whatever on the tee boxes and greens - they were a mess - a variety of grasses, not mowed, and if Stimpmeters had negative numbers, the day I played would register negative. I am sure the course is typically in better shape for a "resort" course, and I would play this course again IF I heard it was in better condition. As well, Someone needs to move the pace of play along. I saw no course marshall and the shortness of the course lends itself to an under four hour round. Not the day I played, but...
Read moreRead the last review and had the opposite experience. Played both courses. First played Lakeview course because it was the one open on Tuesday. Started off ok, on the first few holes but , by the time we had gotten across the street ALL the holes by the big flagpole and all around the lake (by the boathouse) it was like playing in a pasture! The fairway was as long as the rough, which was anywhere from 4 to 6 inches long (if not longer). A couple Tee boxes were just carved out of the long grass at the beginning of the fairway. I really started getting upset when I started loosing balls IN THE FAIRWAY!! Funny thing is we were told it was 90° rule, on the course that day, for carts. IMPOSSIBLE! You couldn't see your ball when you were 3 feet from it, let alone from the cart path. Was thinking I must be a glutton for punishment because we actually came back the next day to play Mountain View (but I came to golf). Well I was pleasantly surprised to find this course in great shape. Fairways were groomed and greens were in really good shape, not like the last review. Lots of bunkers protecting the greens made for a nice challenge. If I could rate the two courses separately I would but, after reading the reviews, I guess you never know what you are...
Read moreHello my name is Clayton I am a 20 year young man who loves golf. I have been golfing at callaway gardens since I can remember. It has always been a great experience and me and my family have loved it. Recently we have had a lot of trouble with the new pro and the factuality at the golf shop. Just the other week I was golfing with my brother and was asked to leave by the pro because he believed we didn’t play. He believed just because we were young men that we were trouble makers and only wanted to mess up the course just because we were young. We were escorted back to the pro shop and after he saw we had paid he tried to apologize and let us return but our round was already ruined. Growing up I have always enjoyed the pros and staff and they have always been so friendly and kind and even offered me deals because I came so regularly. Not to mention the snap of the course has also dramatically decreased since the new pro and staff came along. I do not wish anything bad for anyone who works there just for them to be more friendly with their guest and have a...
