Coming from someone who has been coming to the buffets for 3 years - our experience was terrible on Friday! Wether it was ownership or management that decided to change things I wanted to tell you that was by far the worst decision for this place ! The buffets used to be top notch. From the Friday night seafood, to Saturday prime rib to any of the holiday buffets ....didn't matter what buffet you wert to they were all excellent! Can't say the same for how the buffet is now. The layout of the buffet has changed ! Where the salad bar was , is now where hot food is kept ..... the hot food selection is slim to nothing and now they are keeping the cold food out on the counter getting room temperature (even the dressings, pasta salad and potato salad) was all warm/room temp ! Gross ! Why don't you use the cold bar to keep the cold food cold? The new display is messy and doesn't make sense. Many of what's on the menu for the buffet was not there. Why advertise steamed mussels and clams if your not going to have them? The food selection on seafood night was slim pickings. What's the point of calling it a buffet?? Our service used to be awesome ....now it sucks ! Our server was rude and it was too much of a inconvenience to ask for a drink in a Togo cup because my cup had food and sauce smeared all over the cup that was supposed to be "clean" ......then when he brought me back a to go cup there was a BUG floating in my drink. When bringing this to the managers attention all he did was not charge me for My dinner. He did not care that there was a bug in my drink. As a manager of a "resort" thats un acceptable in my opinion. The tables were dirty, the plates were dirty, the silver ware was dirty. I had to sit and shuffle through plates before I could find a clean one ! It was just gross to me ! I am beyond shocked of this because again we come to Callaway alot to eat dinner and come here for the holidays. I will never be able to live past the bug in my drink so sadly we will not be back. I hope the owner reads my review and takes my comments and advice into consideration. We used to come here on Fridays and the buffet was slammed with people . Now , the place has emptied out for dinner. This place had it right, and then got some new idiot in to run the show and is running it into the ground. I hate that we don't want to ever come back. I always looked forward to coming here for a nice dinner with my...
Read moreSo here's the deal. The evening didn't start out well. We had a 7:45 pm reservation that took them close to 20 minutes before we were finally seated at a table. If this was the only negative of the evening, you'd probably be reading a good review right now. Instead we ended up sitting at our table without anyone coming by for close to 20 minutes.
There was a couple next to our party who was experiencing the same server cold-shoulder. The gentleman there, got up to find out who their server was supposed to be by asking one of the bussers cleaning a table. Unfortunately he wasn't given a confident answer. While this was happening, the hostess continued adding more new people to the surrounding tables near us.
I stopped the hostesses and asked who our server was. She said she would find out. A server (not the one for our section) came over to the other table and apologized to them. She said she didn't know what was up with their server, but it was not her section. She filled their water and took their orders only to find out, when she turned around, we were in the same predicament. She said she come over in a minute and fill our water glasses. Keep in mind none of the other new tables has had anything done yet either. After a total of 35 minutes had passed from when we first sat down and since we hadn't yet given our order to anyone, we decided to cut our loses and go across the way to a KFC. While the waitress was trying to be helpful, clearly it was more load to her station than she could or should handle and it wasn't fair to pile that on her. A manager should have been aware and gotten involved. Sadly, it didn't look like there was one of those in the restaurant either. On our way out, I wished all the people in our section good luck in getting some food.
Maybe Ryan Trahan can have better luck in his one star review series if he ever goes here to try and debunk...
Read moreI normally dont like to give bad reviews... every place and staff have bad days. This is an exception. Can't say anything about the food... we didn't get seated at Cason's because the only table they had for 7 people was "reserved." That was odd because we were told they didn't make reservations. The hostess told us to go to the connecting Piedmont Dinning room. There were a lot of empty tables, but we literally had three people rolling their eyes when we asked to be seated. This was at 8:30 pm, so it's not late. I can't imagine 7 people would be a huge party. We did get seated straight away as the restaurant was less than half full. The strange attitude from the staff started at the hostess but carried through to the waitress. The first item with her was 5 menus for 7 people, but she did bring us 7 waters. Right in the middle of talking to us, the waitress just walked off and started cleaning tables while we were talking to her. She was even talking under her breath and just stared back at us as she wiped down tables. We got a real vibe that none of them wanted us there. Maybe it's for locals only... i dont know. She may also have been trying to force us to get the buffet. We just felt like we were unwelcomed and, after several uncomfortable minutes, had to get up and leave. This is the first time for all 7 of us getting up and leaving. What a strange experience. The food was ridiculously expensive also. Most of the entree food was over $40. The only entree less than that was a simple pesto pasta dish for $26 plus $5 for a protein. It may have been worth the prices, but I highly doupt it for basically the same food on the buffet. I will...
