The Candy Shop is a real treat and Kim is an amazing candy guide who knows her sweets. She infused a unique dimension to candy consumption: "pairing," which i found fascinating. Kim chops up pieces of two different candy bars and tastes them in alternating bites to compare, contrast, and complement. I mean, honestly, Candy Lovers of the world, how great is that?! It's like a wine or beer tasting, but BETTER! Hey, Zing Team, how about a Candy Tasting workshop, and you could feature the marshmallows, chocolate -covered Graham crackerss, and tons of other treats.
When I first walked in, I wasn't overwhelmed by the quantity of items, and I wondered about the variety, but it's Zingerman's, and like with the deli, bakehouse and Creamery, and, really, anything they make/offer/sell, it's got quality running through it, top to bottom, front to back, and every other way they can think to do it. The nougat chocolate bars are to die for and the cinnamon coated candied peanuts are a palate phenom not to be missed. People are raving about the chili peanuts, coated with a delicate Korean style pepper, definitely worth checking out. There's amazing Zing style rice crispy treats and even some gorgeous French - made marzipan and "pebbles" that approach art. Best of all, they have chocolate - covered...

Just ask Karen, and the candy lady will tell you what she knows ( very nice, and she actually has EATEN some of this stuff, so she KNOWS! ) Don't go here if you are looking for a 3 Musketeers Bar, or a Milky Way. Or if you are looking 4 Penny Candy. Zingerman's and"cheap" don't often find themselves in the same sentence, but the reward is most often a quite tasty, sometimes exotic, confectionery experience. Bust out of the same old same old, and try something...
